The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records and preparing financial reports in support of the Accounting and Finance departments. This position works under the supervision of a controller. Staff Accountants may also assist with tasks such as tax preparation, auditing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintain financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledger.
- Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly closing and reporting processes.
- Monitors accounts payable email boxes and enters invoices
- Process bi-weekly payroll in a timely manner
- Responsible for monitoring and entering wholesale sales and investigate any discrepancies.
- Reconcile bank statements in a timely manner and by established deadlines.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Record cash receipts and research banking activity for accuracy.
- Assist in maintaining fixed asset records.
- Participate in external audits (quarterly, annually, etc.) by compiling requested information; prepare analysis of financial information provided.
- Proactively, initiate and assist with a variety of process improvements (analyzing current procedures and recommend changes, etc.); assist with various business process improvements.
- Provide support to other members of the accounting team; assist with training staff as needed or requested.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Ensures revenue, cost of sales and general expenses are recorded accurately according to Internal Revenue Code Section 280E
- Meet all process and reporting deadlines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
· High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
· 1-5 years accounting experience with exceptional attention to detail required.
· Industry experience in agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale and/or retail preferred, experience in the cannabis industry desired.
· Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite, Excel is required; Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) experience preferred; SAGE experience a plus.
· Relatable experience with a fast-growing, start-up or emerging growth company preferred. Public company reporting and experience preferred.
· Must be solutions-oriented, possess excellent time management skills, and can prioritize tasks and multi-task as necessary; Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.

Pay Range: $23.65 - $33.61
Insa is a multi-state employer, and this is the company-wide pay range. Offers will be provided in accordance with state-specific minimum wage guidelines.
