Job Summary
The Outside Showroom Sales Associate is responsible for driving showroom sales by developing relationships with builders, contractors, designers, and customers while promoting Inline Electric Supply’s lighting and showroom product offerings. This role combines outside sales activity with showroom expertise, providing product recommendations, quotations, and project support while ensuring an exceptional customer experience. The Outside Showroom Sales Associate works closely with Showroom Managers, Sales Teams, and Operations to support revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
Sales & Business Development

Develop and maintain relationships with builders, contractors, designers, and customers to drive showroom sales.

Proactively generate new business through outside sales calls, networking, and relationship-building activities.

Promote Inline Electric Supply showroom products, lighting solutions, and value-added services.

Maintain assigned accounts and pursue new opportunities within the territory.
Showroom Sales & Customer Support

Assist customers in selecting lighting, fixtures, and related products based on project needs, design preferences, and budget.

Prepare quotes, process orders, and manage order follow-up to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

Provide product demonstrations, recommendations, and basic lighting layout guidance as needed.

Coordinate customer pickups, deliveries, and special orders with showroom and warehouse teams.
Project Coordination & Order Management

Support residential and light commercial projects from quote through fulfillment.

Communicate order status, backorders, substitutions, and delivery timelines to customers.

Collaborate with purchasing, pricing, and operations teams to support project requirements.

Ensure accurate documentation and order entry in company systems.
Relationship Management & Collaboration

Work closely with Showroom Managers, Inside Sales, and Branch Sales teams to align sales efforts.

Participate in showroom events, promotions, and customer engagement activities.

Maintain a strong understanding of showroom inventory, new products, and vendor programs.

Represent Inline Electric Supply professionally in all customer interactions.
Reporting & Accountability

Track sales activity, pipeline, and opportunities in accordance with company expectations.

Meet or exceed assigned sales goals and performance metrics.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by showroom or sales leadership.
Required Skills & Competencies

Strong sales, relationship-building, and customer service skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, designers, and contractors.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Attention to detail and order accuracy.

Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.

Proficiency with basic computer systems; ERP or CRM experience preferred.

Knowledge of lighting and showroom products preferred.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Prior experience in sales, showroom sales, lighting, or building products preferred.

Experience working with builders, designers, or contractors is a plus.

Valid driver’s license with an approved motor vehicle record.

Compliance with company drug-free workplace requirements.
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to travel locally for outside sales calls and customer meetings.

Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds as needed.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
