About Zeno
An unprecedented energy transition has begun. To meet 2040 net-zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption replaced. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of global GHG emissions. With a mission to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America, Zeno is building a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and an integrated battery-swap network starting with East Africa.
The Role
Zeno is seeking an Initial Quality Checker (4–6 years' experience) to lead incoming inspection, first-level quality verification, and component-level compliance checks for all proprietary and standard parts entering prototype, pilot, and production assembly lines. This role ensures that only high-quality, specification-aligned components enter the manufacturing process, maintaining strong quality foundations for vehicle builds.
What You’ll Do
Incoming Material Inspection
• Conduct detailed visual, dimensional, and functional inspection of incoming materials and sub-assemblies.
• Use precision instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, go/no-go gauges, surface plates, torque tool, and CMM.
• Verify parts against engineering drawings, tolerances, standards, and technical specifications.
Quality Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare IQC AOI sheets and their continous revisions in line with design team w.r.t. CTQ parameters for regular & required part inspection.
• Prepare inspection reports, NCRs, deviation notes, and daily incoming inspection logs.
• Ensure accurate ERP (SAP/Odoo) updates for accepted, rejected, and pending materials.
• Maintain documentation required for audits, supplier reviews, and quality compliance.
Defect Identification & Issue Resolution
• Identify and classify defects, assign defect codes, and escalate repetitive issues.
• Work closely with quality engineers for root-cause analysis and immediate containment actions.
• Support line teams with real-time resolution of incoming quality issues.
Support for Prototype, Pilot, and Mass Builds
• Assist with component validation for prototype and pilot builds.
• Provide feedback to engineering on design-related issues and assembly fitment concerns.
• Ensure only approved parts move ahead in the build process.
Quality Standards & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, measurements, and traceability requirements.
• Support calibration, material testing coordination, and audit readiness.
• Implement best practices for safe handling, storage, and segregation of accepted/rejected parts.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Work with stores, production, supplier quality, and engineering teams on quality-related topics.
• Follow up with suppliers through SQE for material replacements, corrections, and corrective actions.
What You Bring
• 4–6 years of experience in incoming quality inspection, component QC, or quality checking in automotive, EV, manufacturing, or precision engineering industries.
• Strong command over measurement techniques and hands-on expertise with metrology tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
• Experience inspecting metal, plastic, chassis, electrical, and mechanical components.
• ERP proficiency (SAP/Odoo) and strong documentation discipline.
• Practical exposure to PPAP, sampling plans, defect classification, and quality control processes.
• Strong focus on accuracy, detail orientation, and repeatability in inspection.
• Willing harness to work on the shop floor and handle dynamic build schedules.
• Ability to relocate to Bengaluru.
You Have
• A strong quality-first mindset with high ownership.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Proactive identification of issues and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Flexibility to support urgent inspection needs and prototype timelines.
• Positive attitude and ability to collaborate across teams.
Benefits
• Competitive salary aligned with experience.
• Company-sponsored healthcare plan.
• Opportunity to build the initial-quality backbone for a next-generation EV platform.
• Be part of a mission-driven team shaping the future of electric mobility.
