Overview
When you think of InComm Payments, think of Innovative Payments Technology. We were founded over 30 years ago and continue to be a pioneer in the payment (FinTech) industry. Since our inception, we have grown to be a team of over 3,000 employees in 35 countries around the world. We own over 400 global technical patents and a network that includes over 525,000 points of retail distribution that points to our industry expertise.
About InComm Benefits: We build the technology behind benefits administration — the systems employers and employees depend on for things that actually matter in their lives. That means sensitive data, real money, and zero tolerance for "it works on my machine." Reliability, security, and operational excellence aren't aspirations here; they're table stakes.
InComm Payments is highly focused on our people and their growth, and we work hard to make a career at InComm Payments meaningful and rewarding. We value innovation, quality, passion, integrity, and responsibility in all that we do, and we are looking for great people to join our team as we move forward towards a very bright future.

About This Opportunity
In this role you'll own the cloud platform that every engineering team at InComm Benefits ships on. If it runs in production, it runs on infrastructure you're responsible for. This is hands-on technical leadership. You write Terraform, you debug production (and then you make sure it doesn't happen that way again), you build automation that makes teams faster, and you set the direction for how we operate in the cloud. You also grow the platform engineering capability around you — helping engineers who are already good become engineers who can lead. You're comfortable using AI-assisted tooling — coding assistants, LLM-powered debugging, agent assisted infrastructure operations — and you're building toward a world where routine platform tasks are handled autonomously. Reports to the VP of Software Engineering. Works across all engineering teams. You'll collaborate regularly with InfoSec team members based in the US.
Location: Remote, India
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Build and run the platform
- Own our AWS infrastructure across multiple accounts and regions — reliability, cost, security posture, and developer experience. End-to-end.
- Build self-service capabilities so product teams can ship safely without waiting on you.
- Golden-path CI/CD, infrastructure templates, environment provisioning, deployment
- Standardize everything that should be standard. Opinionated defaults that encode security and compliance by design. Consistent IaC patterns. Shared modules.
- Own disaster recovery as a practiced discipline — not a document that lives in Confluence gathering dust, but tested failover that actually works when you need it.
- Make observability a team sport — standardize logging, metrics, and tracing so incidents are resolved with data, not heroics.
- Work with AI, build with AI
- Use AI-assisted tooling as a core part of how you operate — automated runbook execution, agent-assisted incident triage, AI-generated IaC, intelligent alerting.
- Build agentic automation into the platform where it's safe — drift detection, cost anomaly response, routine scaling. Keep humans in the loop where it's not.
- Maintain engineering rigor. AI generates fast; you verify it's correct. Clear blast-radius
- No automated changes in production without review.
- Elevate the platform engineering team
- Work alongside platform engineers who already think about systems — help them develop the maturity, storytelling, and technical depth to drive architectural decisions and sell them to leadership.
- Translate complex infrastructure choices into simple narratives that executives and non
- infra engineers can act on. (e.g., why Kubernetes, why now, what it costs us not to.)
- Raise infrastructure literacy across the org — through pairing, documentation, design docs, and PR reviews that teach.
What This Role Is Not
- Not ticket-driven DevOps. You build systems that eliminate tickets.
- Not a slide-deck architect. You ship infrastructure and stay hands-on. If your last role was
- mostly meetings and diagrams, this isn't it.
- Not people management. You lead through technical excellence and mentorship, not org
Qualifications
What You Bring
- 12+ years in platform engineering, SRE, or cloud infrastructure — not general software engineering with some infra on the side. This is your career, not a detour.
- Deep AWS production chops — you've operated multi-account, multi-region workloads.
- Comfortable across compute, networking, storage, identity, and cost. You've been paged, and you've built systems so others aren't.
- Terraform fluency — you write modules, enforce standards, and review PRs. IaC isn't a side activity; it's how you think.
- Self-service CI/CD — you've built deployment platforms that teams use without filing tickets.
- Reliability engineering — you've designed failover, tested it, and know the difference between a DR document and a DR capability.
- Observability — you've instrumented services, built dashboards that actually get used, and reduced MTTR through better data.
- Security by default — least privilege, network segmentation, secrets management, audit trails. Baked in, not bolted on.
- AI-assisted operations — you use AI tooling in your workflow and can articulate where it helps and where it hallucinates. Excited about agentic operations, grounded in production reality.
- Identity and access management — OAuth 2.0/OIDC, IdP integrations, federated identity patterns.
- Communication — you write design docs that land, explain infra decisions to people who don't think in CIDR blocks, and tell simple stories that help leadership make informed bets.
Nice to Have
- Experience in benefits, fintech, or regulated industries (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI).
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD experience.
- FinOps practice and cloud cost optimization at scale.
- Experience building agentic AI systems for operational automation.
