About the role

Join the Future of Weather Technology! Are you passionate about cutting-edge weather technology and ready to join our Weather technology team? We are looking for enthusiastic Weather Technology Engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment and are eager to drive innovation in weather technology to ensure we deliver the most accurate weather forecasts to support our clients in making critical decisions. With the Infoplaza Weather Technology team we are passionate about pushing the boundaries of weather forecasting, both on land and at sea. The team covers multiple specializations, including Remote Sensing & Observations, Wave & Weather Modelling, creating Optimal & Scenario Weather Models, Decision Support Models and WeatherTech Tooling. We are now looking for a Weather Technology engineer who is specialized in Remote Sensing & Observations. What You Will Do As Weather Technology engineer and specialist in remote sensing and observations, you will play a key role in the development of Infoplaza's remote sensing and observations technology. This involves tasks such as: Radar – On daily basis the rain product is the most used weather service we offer to our 25 million users. We receive near-real-time radar scans from many stations, our radar technology processes this in such a way that we have the best possible radar product as an input for our minute rain forecast and Infoplaza Optimal Model. You will work as a specialist on further (AI) developments and improving and maintaining our rain model. For example, improving the noise filter and radar forecasts. Satellite – The last few years new satellites were launched with new instruments and data possibilities. Further development of our satellite applications for receiving, processing and making useful content from this data is part of your responsibilities. One of our goals is to use more satellite data in our nowcasting like we do with radar data to improve our forecasts. Customers at sea rely on our squall warnings and an early detected clearing of clouds can make a difference for our road ice customers. Observations - Making the best possible forecasts starts with high quality observations. Infoplaza's observations technology has recently been renewed and needs further development. Adding new sources of observations from customers, National Weather Services, and lightning data suppliers is needed for our customers but also for our internal forecast verification systems and our data visualization tools for our forecasters.
