The Industrial Engineer – Operations will be responsible for driving operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and work study techniques. The role focuses on improving productivity, optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing overall manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities1. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban).
- Identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cost reduction and waste elimination projects across operations.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and monitor implementation effectiveness.
2. Six Sigma & Process Optimization- Apply Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, SPC) to improve process capability.
- Drive defect reduction and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process standardization.
3. Work Study (Time & Method Study)- Conduct Time Studies using standard techniques (stopwatch, MOST, etc.).
- Perform Method Studies to optimize workflows and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Establish and maintain standard times and SOPs for all critical operations.
- Analyze manpower utilization and recommend optimal staffing.
4. Productivity & Capacity Improvement- Monitor and improve line efficiency, OEE, and productivity metrics.
- Perform capacity analysis and line balancing.
- Develop strategies to enhance throughput and reduce cycle time.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting- Analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement areas.
- Prepare and present reports on KPIs, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Use tools like Excel, ERP systems, or industrial engineering software for analysis.
6. Layout & Process Design- Design and optimize plant layout for improved material flow.
- Reduce handling time and improve space utilization.
- Support new product/process introduction with IE inputs.
7. Stakeholder Collaboration- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and HR teams.
- Train shop floor teams on Lean and IE practices.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the plant.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt preferred).
Required Skills- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Expertise in Time Study, Method Study, and Work Measurement techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving tools.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and shop floor operations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
