Industrial Engineer / Garment Technician
Industrial Engineering & Productivity
- Conduct time and motion studies for sewing, finishing, and packing operations.
- Prepare and validate SAM (Standard Allowed Minutes) for all garment styles.
- Line balancing to achieve optimum productivity and smooth workflow.
- Improve operator efficiency and reduce bottlenecks on production lines.
- Implement best methods, work aids, and process improvements.
Production Support
- Support production teams during line set-up and style changeovers.
- Monitor daily production output, efficiency, and absenteeism.
- Coordinate with production and planning teams to meet shipment targets.
- Ensure adherence to approved sewing methods and standard operations.
Quality & Technical Support
- Ensure garments are produced as per approved samples, tech packs, and buyer specifications.
- Assist QA/QC teams in identifying root causes of defects and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with garment technicians, merchandisers, and quality teams for smooth execution.
- Support inline, end-line, and final inspection activities.
Costing & SMV Control
- Support merchandisers in pre-costing and order feasibility analysis.
- Analyse cost drivers related to SAM, manpower, and machine utilization.
- Optimize operations to control labour cost and improve garment realization.
Training & Method Improvement
- Train operators on correct sewing methods, machine handling, and productivity standards.
- Develop operation breakdown sheets and skill matrices.
- Conduct continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, 5S).
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain daily efficiency, productivity, and loss analysis reports.
- Maintain IE-related documentation, SOPs, and style-wise data.
- Present improvement plans and performance reviews to management.
Skills :-
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes (cutting, sewing, finishing).
- Take ownership of garment processing & manage all technical aspects of garment production.
- Expertise in time study, motion study, SAM calculation, and line balancing.
- Good understanding of sewing machines, attachments, and work aids.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic ERP systems.
