Individuals & Societies Teacher –
An Individuals & Societies Teacher teaches subjects related to humanities and social sciences, commonly in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, especially under the MYP (Middle Years Programme). The subject may include History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Global Studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in humanities and social sciences
- Teach topics such as history, geography, economics, civics, and global issues
- Develop inquiry-based and student-centered learning activities
- Prepare lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and projects
- Encourage critical thinking, research, and analytical skills
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Integrate real-world examples and interdisciplinary learning
- Support students in presentations, discussions, and collaborative work
- Participate in school events, meetings, and curriculum planning
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of social sciences and humanities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Classroom management abilities
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Creativity in teaching methods
- Ability to work in diverse and international environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or related field
- B.Ed or teaching qualification preferred
- IB/MYP teaching experience is an advantage
