Your Role And Responsibilities
As a Financial Analyst: Consolidation & Planning, you will be responsible for analyzing IBM's forecast, budget, actuals, and business dynamics, and providing business assessments on an ongoing basis. You will interact with business units and geographies on forecast, actuals, budget, and business metrics, and design, prepare, and present detailed analysis of business issues and recommended solutions to senior management.
Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include
- Analyze Business Performance: Analyze IBM's forecast, budget, actuals, and business dynamics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Provide business assessments on an ongoing basis to support informed decision-making.
- Develop Variance Analysis: Develop forecast and budget variance analysis to identify areas of deviation and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Present to Senior Management: Design, prepare, and present detailed analysis of business issues and recommended solutions to senior management, providing insights and guidance to inform strategic decisions.
- Measure Business Results: Measure actual results against expectations in support of IBM's business model of revenue growth, productivity, and cash management.
- Interface with Stakeholders: Interface with both line and finance management and executives to provide financial guidance and support, and to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Financial Analysis Expertise: Deep expertise in financial analysis, planning, and forecasting, with the ability to analyze complex business data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Business Acumen: Experience with business performance analysis, including identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and developing recommendations for corrective action.
- Financial Modeling: Experience with financial modeling and forecasting, including developing forecast and budget variance analysis to identify areas of deviation and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Strategic Planning: Experience with strategic planning and decision-making, including designing, preparing, and presenting detailed analysis of business issues and recommended solutions to senior management.
- Financial Leadership: Experience in a financial leadership role, including interfacing with senior management and executives to provide financial guidance and support, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Financial Planning Expertise: Deep expertise in financial planning, including developing and implementing comprehensive financial plans that align with business objectives. Experience with financial planning tools and techniques, including forecasting and budgeting. Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with the IT industry, including knowledge of hardware, software, and services businesses. Understanding of industry trends, risks, and opportunities for growth. Ability to apply industry knowledge to inform financial planning and analysis.
- Pricing Strategy: Experience with pricing strategy and tactics, including developing and implementing pricing models that meet client needs while achieving profit objectives. Ability to analyze market trends and competitor pricing to inform pricing decisions.
