About Grow Beyond Borders
Grow Beyond Borders (GBB) is a global trade technology platform connecting businesses, markets and organisations involved in international commerce. Alongside its SME SaaS platform, GBB works with institutions and ecosystem partners that support large communities of businesses, including trade organisations, financial institutions, government-linked organisations, chambers and international business networks.
Role Summary
GBB is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to build high-value institutional and enterprise relationships. You will identify organisations that could use GBB to support their SME members, customers or business communities, and take those relationships from first engagement through to commercial agreement.
The role calls for consultative selling, long-term relationship building and a strong understanding of international business and trade ecosystems. Target organisations include:
- Embassies, diplomatic trade missions and international trade and investment agencies
- Chambers of commerce, industry and trade associations, and business councils
- Banks and financial institutions
- Export promotion, SME development, government and economic development organisations
- Enterprise groups
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline: Build and manage an enterprise and institutional business development pipeline; maintain accurate forecasting and CRM records.
- Prospecting: Identify strategic organisations that could partner with or procure GBB, and open doors with senior decision-makers at chambers, embassies, banks, trade bodies and government-linked institutions.
- Discovery: Understand each organisation's international trade, SME development or market-access objectives.
- Proposition design: Develop tailored commercial propositions, enterprise proposals, partnership structures and commercial models using the GBB platform and ecosystem.
- Engagement: Lead discovery meetings, presentations, demonstrations and commercial negotiations with senior executives, boards, trade teams and institutional stakeholders.
- Programmes: Identify opportunities for white-labelled programmes, sponsored SME access, trade initiatives, international delegations and market-entry programmes.
- Scale: Build partnerships that can bring hundreds or thousands of businesses onto the GBB platform.
- Relationships: Build long-term institutional partnerships rather than focusing only on transactional sales.
- Representation: Represent GBB at trade conferences, chamber events, government meetings and business delegations.
- Coordination: Coordinate opportunities across the UK, India and other international markets.
- Collaboration: Work with the founders, marketing and product teams on major strategic accounts and relevant propositions.
Typical Commercial Opportunities
- Chambers of Commerce: Giving members access to GBB to support international business development.
- Banks: Offering international growth and trade discovery capabilities to SME banking customers.
- Embassies & Trade Missions: Creating digital ecosystems that connect businesses between two markets.
- Government & Economic Development Organisations: Supporting programmes that help SMEs export, internationalise or attract overseas partners.
- Trade Associations: Connecting industry members with international buyers, suppliers and partners.
- Enterprise Partners: Embedding GBB capabilities within wider business growth or trade programmes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, institutional business development, strategic partnerships or international business.
- Demonstrable experience developing senior-level B2B relationships, and managing longer, more complex sales cycles.
- Ability to engage confidently with CEOs, senior executives, diplomats, government officials and institutional leaders.
- Excellent spoken and written English; strong presentation, negotiation and commercial communication skills.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to create opportunities rather than only respond to inbound leads.
- Comfortable working across countries, organisations and cultures.
- Willingness to travel within India and internationally when required.
- Ability to work from the Hyderabad office within a hybrid working model.
Skills
- Enterprise B2B sales, consultative and solution selling, account-based business development
- Strategic partnership development, commercial modelling and deal structuring
- Proposal and commercial document preparation; strong PowerPoint and business presentation skills
- CRM and opportunity management
- LinkedIn and digital prospecting; comfortable using AI and modern sales productivity tools
Global Trade Knowledge
A good understanding of the international trade ecosystem is expected, including:
- International business development, import and export ecosystems, SME internationalisation
- Trade promotion and market entry
- Chambers, business associations and government trade organisations
- Banking and trade finance ecosystems
- International partnerships; buyers, suppliers, distributors and business networks
Deep technical knowledge of customs regulations is not essential, but you should understand how businesses expand internationally and how governments, banks, chambers and trade organisations support that journey.
Qualifications
- Preferred: bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration, International Business, International Trade, Marketing, Economics, Commerce or Management.
- An MBA or postgraduate qualification in international business is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Relevant experience and an established network within trade, banking, chambers, government or enterprise ecosystems will be highly valued.
Key Performance Indicators
- Enterprise opportunities created and qualified pipeline value
- Strategic partnerships developed and expanded across countries and sectors
- Commercial proposals submitted and enterprise contracts closed
- Annual contract value generated
- Number of businesses brought onto GBB through partnerships
- Quality of relationships with senior stakeholders
Who We Are Looking For
A relationship builder who is comfortable opening doors at senior levels and who understands that an enterprise partnership with a chamber, bank or trade organisation can take several months to develop, and knows how to sustain momentum throughout. You move easily between strategy and sales, whether presenting GBB to a chamber CEO, shaping an SME programme with a bank, or developing a cross-border initiative with an embassy. Above all, you share GBB’s ambition to make international trade and global business opportunities more accessible to SMEs around the world.
