Role description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Implementation Engineer enables successful onboarding of new laboratory software capabilities by coordinating installations, vendor-led deployments, and integration into the Zoetis application ecosystem. This role bridges gaps between central ZTD/VMRD and site-level execution by providing repeatable implementation playbooks, environment readiness, and cutover leadership. The engineer partners with vendors and internal delivery teams to ensure solutions are configured correctly, validated appropriately, and connected to required services (identity, data flows, monitoring, backups, and ITSM). Near-term opportunities include absorbing implementation workload currently sitting with other engineers (e.g., Elements replacement, Tic Labs, and the Ardigen engagement with ZCAM). The role emphasizes predictable delivery, minimized operational disruption, and smooth transition to sustain/support ownership.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- New Application Implementation Delivery: coordinate installs, configurations, environment readiness, and go-lives for new lab software capabilities.
- Vendor-Led Deployment Management: manage vendor workplans, timelines, deliverables, risks/issues, and acceptance criteria.
- Integration & Connectivity: ensure systems connect to required Zoetis services and adjacent applications (SSO/IAM, data interfaces, monitoring, ITSM, reporting).
- Transition to Operations: create handoff packages, runbooks, support models, SLAs, and training/knowledge transfer to sustain teams.
- Standardization & Playbooks: develop repeatable implementation patterns, checklists, and governance to improve speed and consistency.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 4+ years in application implementation, deployment engineering, or technical project delivery.
· Experience coordinating vendor deployments and driving go-live readiness across multiple stakeholders.
ExExperience in regulated or GxP-adjacent environments preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
· · Strong delivery discipline: plans, RAID management, cutover, and operational readiness.
· Working knowledge of enterprise integration concepts (SSO/IAM, APIs, file transfers, data pipelines) and infrastructure dependencies.
· Experience producing implementation documentation and operational handoff materials.
Excellent communication skills for cross-team coordination and executive-ready status updates.
