Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune for an IMDS (International Material Data System) Engineer. The IMDS Engineer will be responsible for managing material data within the IMDS platform, ensuring compliance with global automotive regulations, and validating material data provided by suppliers. Additional responsibilities include analyzing material and chemical compositions, maintaining data accuracy, and collaborating with internal teams to manage compliance documentation and verification processes.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in IMDS, material data collection, and compliance with REACH and RoHS directives
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in interpreting material specifications and chemical compositions
  • Experience in supplier communication and management for data validation and compliance support
  • Knowledge of global automotive regulations and standards related to material and substance use
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Experience in the automotive industry or a similar engineering field is preferred


Job description – IMDS engineer

  1. IMDS Data Management: Maintain and update the IMDS database with accurate information on materials, substances, and compliance status.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and apply regulations such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), and others applicable to specific industries.
  3. Material Reporting: Generate reports and documentation required by regulatory authorities, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding the materials used in products.
  4. Supplier Communication: Collaborate with suppliers to obtain accurate material data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Internal Coordination: Work closely with engineering, procurement, quality assurance, and environmental health and safety (HSE) teams to integrate IMDS data into product development and manufacturing processes.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement process improvements related to IMDS data management and compliance.
