Job Summary

This position identifies prospects and prospect strategies to Advancement leadership which result in major gifts for Illinois State University. Meets with the Development team leadership and directors to determine a data-driven course of action for portfolio management. Reviews and analyzes constituent data to determine assignments for major donors, principal donors, and transformational donors in pursuit of gifts to impact ISU. Communicates with development directors to optimize portfolios. Develops portfolio management, pipeline, and individual strategies to impact the fundraising success of ISU’s capital campaign. Creates, documents, and communicates best practices in relation to prospect management. Manages and utilizes technology, including donor databases, research tools, and ancillary sources to optimize resources. Provides best practices to all staff and supervises student staff.

Prospect Management and Research is a part of Advancement and Foundation Operations, one of four departments managed by University Advancement. Prospect Management and Research’s mission is to enhance ISU’s philanthropic endeavors by partnering with Development to deliver timely information, moves management, data, and prospect analysis.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$77,000 annual

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree
2. Seven (7) years of professional experience in prospect management and research, foundation operations, annual giving, fundraising and development, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field.
2. Experience with advancement database systems and research software.
3. Experience with prospect management.
4. Experience in higher education.

Work Hours

Core work hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
