About the role

Are you a student or recent graduate looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in internet research, information governance, and digital diplomacy? The United Nations' Office of the IIIM-Syria is offering five internship positions for highly motivated candidates who wish to contribute to international justice efforts while developing professional skills. This is an excellent opportunity for students in fields such as digital diplomacy, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and information governance to gain valuable experience in an international environment. The International, Impartial, and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) was established to assist in the investigation and prosecution of individuals responsible for the most serious crimes under international law committed in Syria since March 2011. The IIIM collects, preserves, and analyzes evidence to support accountability efforts. This internship falls under the Information Systems Management Section (ISMS) of the IIIM, which is responsible for information governance and management. As an Internet Research Intern at IIIM-Syria, you will: - Conduct targeted open-source research and analysis on issues relevant to Syria. - Research and summarize political, economic, social, technological, and legal aspects of the Syrian situation. - Assist in developing frameworks and processes related to information governance. - Synthesize relevant literature and contribute to methodological research. - Compile research findings into reports and presentations for the IIIM team. - Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all tasks.
