Role Description
IFS Finance Functional Consultant – Rebates Specialist
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced IFS Finance Functional Consultant with strong hands-on experience in IFS Applications / IFS Cloud Finance, particularly Rebates and Customer/Supplier Rebate Management.
The consultant will be responsible for understanding business finance requirements, designing and configuring IFS Finance solutions, supporting implementations and enhancements, and working closely with business and technical teams. The ideal candidate should have practical experience designing, configuring, testing, and supporting rebate processes within IFS, including rebate agreements, eligibility rules, accruals, settlements, adjustments, and financial postings.
Key Responsibilities
1. IFS Finance Functional Consulting
Analyze business requirements and translate them into IFS Finance solutions.
Conduct AS-IS / TO-BE process analysis and fit-gap workshops.
Configure and support IFS Finance modules.
Prepare functional specifications, solution designs, process documentation, and test scenarios.
Work closely with finance, commercial, procurement, sales, and operational stakeholders.
2. Rebates – Core Responsibility
Strong hands-on experience with IFS Rebates functionality is mandatory.
Understand and configure customer and/or supplier rebate processes.
Configure rebate agreements, conditions, eligibility criteria, calculation rules, and settlement processes.
Handle different rebate structures based on:
Customer
Supplier
Product
Product group
Quantity
Revenue/value
Period
Sales/purchase volume
Contract/agreement
Understand rebate accrual and settlement processes.
Configure and validate rebate calculations.
Handle rebate adjustments, cancellations, credit/debit transactions, and settlements.
Ensure correct accounting and financial postings generated from rebate transactions.
Troubleshoot discrepancies between expected and calculated rebates.
Work with technical teams on rebate-related reports, integrations, interfaces, and customizations.
Support reconciliation of rebate accruals and settlements with the General Ledger.
Assist business users in designing complex rebate scenarios and translating them into IFS functionality.
3. Core Finance Modules
Hands-on knowledge of the following IFS Finance areas is expected:
General Ledger
Accounts Receivable
Accounts Payable
Cash / Bank Management
Fixed Assets
Tax
Posting Controls
Voucher Processing
Financial Period Closing
Financial Reconciliation
Cost Accounting
Financial Reporting
Experience with Project Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Order-to-Cash / Procure-to-Pay processes will be an advantage.
4. Implementation & Support
Participate in IFS implementation, upgrade, rollout, and support projects.
Gather requirements and prepare functional solution documents.
Configure and validate IFS Finance functionality.
Support data migration and master-data validation.
Prepare and execute unit, SIT, regression, and UAT testing.
Support cutover and Go-Live activities.
Provide post-Go-Live support and resolve functional issues.
Perform root-cause analysis for production issues.
Work within defined SLA and support processes.
5. Integration & Technical Collaboration
Work with technical consultants and developers on:
Finance integrations
Rebate interfaces
Reports
APIs
Data migration
Customizations
Understand how transactions from Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and other modules flow into Finance.
Perform functional validation of integrations and financial postings.
Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting is desirable.
6. Documentation & Training
Prepare functional specifications and process-flow documents.
Create test cases and UAT scenarios.
Prepare user manuals and SOPs.
Conduct user training and knowledge-transfer sessions.
Document configuration and business processes.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of ERP Finance functional consulting experience.
Strong hands-on experience with IFS Applications / IFS Cloud Finance.
Proven practical experience with IFS Rebates.
Experience with at least one complete IFS implementation, upgrade, or major rollout.
Strong understanding of accounting and finance processes.
Experience with GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Tax, and financial reporting.
Strong understanding of Order-to-Cash and/or Procure-to-Pay processes.
Experience with requirement gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and production support.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Mandatory Rebate Experience
Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical experience with scenarios such as:
Customer rebate agreements
Supplier rebates
Volume-based rebates
Value/revenue-based rebates
Product/category-based rebates
Period-based rebate agreements
Tiered/slab-based rebate calculations
Rebate accruals
Rebate settlements
Rebate adjustments
Rebate reconciliation
Financial posting of rebate transactions
Rebate reporting and analysis
Candidates with only general IFS Finance experience but no hands-on Rebates experience should not be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
IFS Finance / IFS Cloud certification.
Experience with IFS Applications 9/10 and/or IFS Cloud.
Experience with IFS Business Reporter.
Experience with IFS migration tools / data migration.
Basic SQL knowledge.
Experience working with integrations and APIs.
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or other rebate-driven industries.
CA / CMA / MBA Finance / M.Com or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
Soft Skills
Strong client-facing communication.
Ability to independently analyze complex business requirements.
Strong documentation skills.
Ability to lead workshops with finance and business users.
Ability to explain complex ERP processes to non-technical users.
Comfortable working with offshore/onshore teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
