Job Title: Identity & Directory Migration Engineer
Location: Ahmedabad, India
Part of the global Technology, Innovation, & Engineering (TIE) Shared Services organization.
About the Role
We are seeking an Identity & Directory Migration Engineer based in India to support the integration of newly acquired firms into Springline Advisory’s enterprise identity, collaboration, and device management platforms.
This role combines responsibilities typically performed by Identity Engineers, Microsoft 365 Administrators, Endpoint Engineers, and Migration Specialists. The engineer will execute end-to-end identity and collaboration migrations using standardized playbooks developed during prior enterprise identity consolidation initiatives.
The role is responsible for migrating acquired companies into Springline’s centralized Microsoft Entra ID environment, consolidating Microsoft 365 tenants, transitioning devices to the enterprise identity platform, integrating applications with single sign-on, and migrating file shares to modern collaboration platforms.
You will work closely with the global Technology, Innovation & Engineering (TIE) team to ensure consistent onboarding of newly acquired organizations while maintaining secure access, stable systems, and a unified collaboration environment across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Identity & Active Directory Migration
· Execute consolidation of acquired company Active Directory and Cloud environments into the Springline enterprise Entra IDaaS domain.
· Migrate user accounts, security groups, and directory objects while preserving permissions and access controls.
· Configure and validate domain trust relationships to support staged migration activities.
· Standardize identity attributes including User Principal Names (UPNs), group naming conventions, and access structures across entities.
· Analyze authentication mechanisms in use by on-prem, cloud, and SaaS business applications and determine a migration strategy into Springline enterprise with minimal functionality and user disruption.
· Implement and validate identity security controls including conditional access policies, MFA enforcement, and access governance.
· Troubleshoot authentication issues and directory conflicts during migration waves.
· Prepare and distribute communication materials to stakeholders to collect information needed to plan transformation and inform them of both actions required of them and changes to their user experiences.
Microsoft 365 Tenant Migration
· Execute migration of Microsoft 365 workloads and data including Exchange Online mailboxes, SharePoint sites, OneDrive data, and Microsoft Teams environments.
· Consolidate acquired company tenants into the Springline Microsoft 365 tenant.
· Coordinate DNS updates, domain verification, and MX record cutovers.
· Validate mailbox permissions, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, and collaboration settings following migration.
· Monitor migration progress and resolve technical issues affecting email or collaboration services.
· Identify and address major email and collaboration dependencies, such as multiple email domains and trusted 3rd parties.
· Execute and manage migration activities using BitTitan MigrationWiz (or equivalent tools) for mailbox, document, and collaboration workload migration.
· Forecast downtime/outages and coordinate with business stakeholders to minimize duration and align outage windows with business tolerance.
· Prepare and distribute communication materials to stakeholders to prepare them for Endpoint & Device Identity Migration.
· Support migration of workstations and devices from legacy authentication (on-prem active directory, Entra, and/or MSP-managed environments) to Springline Microsoft Entra ID.
· Configure and manage device enrollment using Microsoft Intune, transitioning end user systems into a consistent managed configuration.
· Assist with device provisioning workflows including Windows Autopilot enrollment.
· Validate device compliance policies, encryption, endpoint security configurations, and access controls.
· Monitor device health and address authentication or connectivity issues during migration waves.
· Plan and migrate virtual desktops (such as Azure Virtual Desktops) into Springline enterprise while maintaining end user functionality
· Manage end user application installations so business functionality remains.
Application Identity Integration
· Inventory business applications integrated with legacy identity providers.
· Reconfigure authentication mechanisms to support Microsoft Entra ID based Single Sign-On (SSO).
· Configure enterprise applications in Entra ID and apply conditional access policies.
· Validate authentication flows including SAML, OIDC, and directory-based integrations.
· Coordinate testing with application users to ensure continuity of user access.
File Share & Data Migration
· Assess legacy file servers and shared folder environments across acquired companies to determine functional requirements for on-going access by authorized users.
· Determine feasibility of file share migration into M365/Azure and execute migration of file share data to SharePoint Online, where feasible,while preserving folder structure and permissions.
· Ensure continued functioning of file shares where required for business application functionality
· Validate access control lists and user access, back ups, and data retention to migrated data.
· Assist with implementation of document governance policies including retention, classification, and version control.
· Utilize migration tooling such as BitTitan MigrationWiz for data and document migration activities where applicable.
Migration Execution & Operational Support
· Execute migration waves according to established integration playbooks and project timelines, making strategic and tactical adjustments to playbook plans as required to address the specific functional and technology environments aquired.
· Configure and operate migration tools used for directory, tenant, and data migration activities.
· Monitor migration progress and generate status reports on migration metrics and issue resolution.
· Develop scripts and automation (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline repeatable migration tasks and improve scalability.
· Maintain operational documentation including migration procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
· Provide post-migration hypercare support to resolve identity, access, and collaboration issues.
M&A Integration & Onboarding
· Support onboarding of newly acquired firms into Springline’s enterprise identity architecture.
· Execute standardized integration processes for identity, devices, collaboration platforms, and applications.
· Assist in decommissioning legacy identity infrastructure following migration completion.
· Ensure newly integrated firms align with Springline security standards and enterprise identity governance.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of migration playbooks to support scalable onboarding of future acquisitions.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
· 5–8 years of experience in identity infrastructure, enterprise systems administration, or migration engineering.
· Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
· Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, Azure, Purview.
· Experience integrating with multiple SaaS and PaaS platforms.
· Experience with migration tools such as BitTitan MigrationWiz or similar platforms for tenant and workload migration.
· Experience working with endpoint management technologies such as Microsoft Intune or similar device management platforms.
· Understanding of authentication technologies including SAML, OIDC, LDAP, and Single Sign-On integrations.
· Experience performing system migrations, tenant consolidations, or infrastructure integration projects.
· Strong troubleshooting skills across identity, authentication, and collaboration systems.
· Ability to independently manage complex technical tasks and execute migration activities.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions or enterprise system consolidation initiatives.
· Experience with identity migration tools such as ADMT, Quest Migration Manager, or similar platforms.
· Experience migrating data to SharePoint Online or other cloud collaboration platforms.
· Experience integrating SaaS applications with Microsoft Entra ID for authentication.
· Experience using PowerShell or scripting to automate identity and system administration tasks.
· Experience working in a multi-entity or global enterprise environment.
· Experience working in a regulated environment
· Ability to operate independently while collaborating with distributed global technology teams.
· Ability to meet with business leaders and non-IT stakeholders to collect requirements and provide plan updates.
