We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join us at our Smyrna TN plant!
Job Summary:
Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience day-to-day workings of engineering.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Assure compliance to all required industry standards and government requirements as stated in the Ideal-Tridon Quality Manual, Quality Management System, process documentation and all Company Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Maintain and protect all company, supplier, and customer proprietary and confidential information.
- Activities can include data analysis, method improvements projects, software improvement projects, product comparison studies, design for manufacturing projects, creating / modifying tool designs, developing and maintaining DVPRs / DFMEAs / work instructions, component testing, and compliance documentation.
- Basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, testing, and integration.
- Assisting design engineers with drawing layout and completion
- Perform simple calculations, computer data entry, along with exposure to design and cross-training.
- Present designs and results at company internal design reviews
- Research and implement improvements in the development of products using AI, Python, and/or Java.
- Update engineering related project documentation / data.
- Creation of technical documentation
- Perform analysis on existing products.
- Assist in the design and development of future products.
- Assist in the launch of new products.
- Travel to customers, suppliers, or other Ideal locations as required.
- Participation in team meetings
- Other duties as required and assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited college or university.
- Proficient in 3-D SolidWorks (CAD) and/or AutoCAD
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Proficient with hand tools
- Provides own transportation to and from work.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
- May occasionally climb stairs, drive vehicles, and operate equipment.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
