As the Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and responsible workplace. This position develops and manages programs that protect employees, the community, and the environment while ensuring compliance with all applicable corporate, local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The role supports all aspects of site EHSS activities and may be assigned responsibilities across any EHSS discipline, including occupational safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, hazardous materials, environmental compliance, and waste management.

General EHSS Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHSS programs, policies, and procedures that promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS, and state/local regulations.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure continuous improvement in EHSS performance.
- Support Responsible Care and RC14001 / OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 management systems, including documentation, audits, and management reviews.
- Serve as liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies on EHSS matters.
- Maintain EHSS metrics, documentation, and compliance records, including OSHA logs, injury reports, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
Safety & Health Programs
- Develop and conduct employee training programs on all aspects of safety and health (e.g., PPE, respiratory protection, hazard communication, confined space, lockout/tagout, machine safety, fall protection, bloodborne pathogens, ergonomics, and heat stress prevention).
- Conduct regular plant inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, recommend corrective actions, and verify compliance.
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Administer workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work, and medical surveillance programs.
- Serve as the site’s primary OSHA contact and lead compliance efforts with all OSHA regulations.
Environmental Compliance & Waste Management
- Ensure environmental compliance for air, water, and waste management programs.
- Manage hazardous waste generation, storage, and disposal in accordance with RCRA and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare and submit required environmental permits, reports, and documentation.
- Support sustainability and waste minimization initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records for waste streams, manifests, and recycling programs.
Industrial Hygiene & Sampling
- Develop and implement industrial hygiene sampling plans and exposure assessments for noise, air contaminants, and other workplace hazards.
- Analyze sampling data and recommend control measures to reduce exposure risks.
- Maintain calibration and records for IH monitoring equipment.
