Position Summary

The IT Support Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware and related equipment, ensuring systems function optimally and providing technical support to users.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues, including replacing faulty components.
  • Installing new hardware, maintaining existing systems, and ensuring hardware is up to date.
  • Providing technical assistance to users, answering questions, and guiding them through hardware-related problems.
  • Maintaining records of hardware configurations, repairs, and solutions.
  • Assisting with network-related issues, including troubleshooting and configuration.
  • Supporting peripheral devices like printers, scanners, and other hardware.
  • Communicating effectively with users and other IT staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Some travel within Canada may be required.

Education/Skills/Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a Computer Science or Information Technology or a related field or relevant experience in a similar role
  • 1-2 years of experience in IT Support / Helpdesk role (we will also consider IT graduates with no experience)
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, networking, and operating systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Ability to identify problems, research solutions, and implement them effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with users and other IT staff.
  • Ability to provide helpful and efficient support to users.
  • Practical experience with installing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware.
