Job Title
IBS Engineering Specialist
Job Summary
As a Splunk Engineer, you’ll support the full data lifecycle between Digital Workplace systems and the Splunk platform. You’ll design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines; support Splunk infrastructure; define index structures; ensure data security; and manage role‑based access control (RBAC – Role-Based Access Control). This role supports Data Analysts, Security teams, and Digital Workplace teams by providing reliable and secure Splunk data sources, while managing frequent data and integration requests.
You’ll also design, test, document, and maintain internal software aligned with Amadeus standards and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Data Ingestion & Pipeline Engineering
- Build and maintain data pipelines across Digital Workplace systems such as Microsoft 365 (M365), Nexthink, Intune/System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and security or endpoint logs.
- Implement extraction, transformation, parsing, normalization, and indexing processes.
- Monitor pipeline health and support troubleshooting when source formats, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), or data volumes change.
- Apply data quality practices such as deduplication and field standardization, including Common Information Model (CIM) alignment.
- Support varied ingestion requests and schema updates.
Splunk Platform Engineering
- Manage Splunk components including indexers, search heads, heavy forwarders, universal forwarders, clustering, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Maintain storage, license usage, and ingestion performance.
- Use automation through runbooks, scripting, or Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Support reliability and scalability improvements for the platform.
Index Schema Design
- Define index structures, sourcetypes, naming conventions, and field extraction rules.
- Establish retention settings, summary indexes, and performance‑optimized schema models.
- Ensure data is structured for efficient analysis and aligned with performance and security needs.
RBAC & Security Governance
- Configure Splunk roles, groups, and capabilities.
- Apply granular access controls for indexes, dashboards, and reports.
- Apply least‑privilege principles and protect sensitive logs.
- Support mapping with Active Directory/Azure Active Directory (AD/AAD).
Data Security, Compliance & Ethics
- Apply General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) principles to ingestion, storage, and access.
- Identify and appropriately manage Personally Identifiable Information (PII), user activity logs, and endpoint data.
- Apply responsible data‑handling practices in all workflows.
Required Skills
- Good experience with Splunk Enterprise (indexing, search heads, clustering).
- Experience designing and operating data ingestion pipelines.
- Experience working with Digital Workplace technologies such as Microsoft 365 (M365), device management tools, Nexthink, and identity or endpoint logging systems.
- Knowledge of data privacy requirements including GDPR and PII handling.
- Experience with RBAC design and Splunk access governance.
Additional Useful Experience
- Experience with runbook automation tools (e.g., Rundesk).
- Experience working with security logs, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools, and identity systems.
- Understanding of Splunk data models and CIM.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and large‑scale Microsoft 365 audit logs.
Candidate Profile
You’ll bring experience working with Digital Workplace systems and enterprise logging pipelines. You’re comfortable supporting key data flows, applying security best practices, and working ethically with sensitive data. You’ll collaborate with multiple teams, support troubleshooting needs, and balance stability, performance, and compliance in a complex environment.
