IB MYP Physics / Science Teacher
Job Summary
The IB MYP Physics Teacher delivers engaging and inquiry-based science instruction aligned with the
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme curriculum. The teacher fosters critical thinking, scientific investigation, and interdisciplinary learning while supporting students' conceptual understanding of physics and general science.

- Curriculum Planning & Instruction
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned with MYP Science objectives and assessment criteria.
- Teach core physics topics such as:
- Motion and forces
- Energy and transformations
- Electricity and magnetism
- Waves and light
- Heat and thermodynamics
- Integrate inquiry-based and concept-driven learning.
- Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and assess student work using MYP assessment criteria (A–D):
- Knowing and Understanding
- Inquiring and Designing
- Processing and Evaluating
- Reflecting on the Impacts of Science
- Provide formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate student records and feedback.
- Laboratory & Practical Work
- Conduct and supervise safe laboratory experiments.
- Teach scientific investigation skills such as:
- Hypothesis formation
- Experimental design
- Data collection and analysis
- Student Development
- Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Support students with research projects and presentations.
- Promote the IB learner profile attributes (inquirers, thinkers, communicators, etc.).
- Collaboration & School Engagement
- Collaborate with MYP coordinators and science department teachers.
- Participate in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary units.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences, school events, and professional development.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics / Science / Education.
- Teaching certification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent).
- Experience with IB MYP curriculum preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inquiry-based and student-centered learning.
- Strong physics subject knowledge
- Laboratory management skills
- Curriculum planning and assessment design
- Excellent communication and classroom management
- Ability to use educational technology and simulations
- Prior experience teaching in an IB World School.
- Experience preparing students for MYP eAssessments or projects.
- Familiarity with concept-based curriculum design.
