Open to B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech/PhD candidates with strong coding and AI/ML skills. Internship duration: May–Aug 2026. Research Intern – AI Your role and responsibilities Summer Internship Program is one of the major activities under the University Relation Program. IBM Research India offers Summer Internship to the bright students of leading technical Universities in India. IBM Research India provides industry experience and world class technologies to these students to show their talent. During internship students work on current projects happening in the lab, they solve problems with the help of their mentors. Idea is to give industry experience to the students and look for future employees. Required technical and professional expertise Excellent coding skills in Python (including Pandas, NumPy) Strong grasp of Data Structures, Algorithms, Problem Solving Solid foundation in Linear Algebra, Probability, and Statistics Hands-on experience with VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, Git AI/ML Fundamentals: supervised & unsupervised learning, classification, regression, neural networks, clustering Learning fundamentals and Data Manipulation/Analysis for large datasets Proficiency in AI libraries/frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch Experience in Deep Learning, Foundation Models, Large Language Models Familiar with Generative AI frameworks such as langchain and crew.ai Expertise in unstructured data processing Experience working with platforms such as Watsonx.ai or similar Familiarity with risks associated with AI deployments, including agents going rogue Research Intern – Platform for AI Your role and responsibilities Summer Internship Program is one of the major activities under the University Relation Program. Required technical and professional expertise Excellent coding skills in Java/Python (including Pandas, NumPy), Data Structures, Algorithms, Problem Solving, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics, Experience with VS Code, Jupyter notebooks, Git Cloud platforms and frameworks (AWS/Azure/IBM/Google), Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/Openshift), Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), Networking, Security, Scripting, Monitoring and Logging, AI/ML fundamentals Good programming and hands on experience in python Familiarity with Cloud technologies (containerization, kubernetes) Exposure to different model types like Dense, MoE, Mamba and multimodal models. Experience with Pytorch and FSDP Exposure to tuning and GPU optimization Experience with internals of training stacks Exposure to different tuning techniques including SFT, LoRA, RL. Qiskit development: open source development and software engineering coding skill in Qiskit coding experience in Rust good to have: foundations in quantum computing, graph theory, probability 2. AI for Quantum: hands-on skill in large language models, agentic AI and reinforcement learning frameworks or workflows familiarity with machine learning model development and data science deployment and engineering of AI solutions 3. Quantum algorithm and engineering: theoretical foundation in quantum computing including QAOA coding skill in Qiskit ability to read a paper and implement its methodology good to have: understanding of tensor networks 4. Services, infrastructure and reliability: knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC, GitOps, linux and open source contributions experience with IAM, RBAC, encryption, secret management and CNCF tools familiarity with building services in NodeJS / Typescript / Python, and Vector DBs or bot development
