Job Role: IBDP Economics Teacher

Location: Lucknow

The IBDP Economics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the IB Diploma Programme, fostering critical thinking, global awareness, and analytical skills in students studying Economics at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL).

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery

• Teach Economics in accordance with the IBDP Economics curriculum (HL & SL).
• Cover core topics: microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and development economics.
• Integrate real-world examples and case studies.

Lesson Planning & Instruction

• Design engaging lesson plans using inquiry-based learning (IB pedagogy).
• Use diverse teaching strategies to support different learning styles.
• Incorporate data analysis, diagrams, and evaluation techniques.

Assessment & Feedback

• Prepare students for IB internal and external assessments.
• Guide students in Internal Assessments (IA), including commentary writing.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback aligned with IB criteria.

Student Development

• Encourage critical thinking, independent research, and discussion.
• Support Extended Essays (EE) in Economics.
• Monitor student progress and provide academic mentoring.

IB Requirements & Compliance

• Align teaching with IB standards and practices.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Participate in IB training/workshops and curriculum updates.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of economic theories and global economic issues
• Familiarity with IB assessment criteria and command terms
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to foster analytical and evaluative thinking
• Digital literacy (e.g., using tools for data visualization)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Economics or related field
• Teaching qualification (B.Ed. or equivalent preferred)
• IB training or experience (highly preferred)
• 2–5+ years of teaching Economics (IB experience preferred)
• Experience guiding students for IA and EE is a strong advantage
