IB Visual Arts Teacher

Job Summary

The IB Visual Arts Teacher delivers engaging and inquiry-based art education aligned with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate. The teacher encourages creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while helping students develop technical skills and an appreciation for global and contemporary art practices.

  • Curriculum Planning & Instruction
  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with IB Visual Arts curriculum requirements.
  • Teach artistic techniques, visual communication, and creative processes.
  • Introduce students to various art forms such as:
    • Drawing
    • Painting
    • Sculpture
    • Printmaking
    • Digital art
  • Encourage experimentation and personal artistic style.
  • IB Programme Support
  • Teach and support students in programmes such as the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).
  • Guide students in maintaining process journals, portfolios, and art investigations.
  • Support students in preparing for exhibitions and final art assessments.
  • Assessment & Feedback
  • Design formative and summative assessments based on IB assessment criteria.
  • Evaluate student work based on creativity, technical skills, reflection, and conceptual understanding.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support artistic growth.
  • Studio & Materials Management
  • Maintain the art studio and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
  • Manage art materials, supplies, and tools.
  • Ensure safe use of art equipment and materials.
  • Student Development
  • Encourage creative thinking and visual storytelling.
  • Support students in developing individual artistic voice and confidence.
  • Promote appreciation for art history and global cultures.
  • Exhibitions & School Engagement
  • Organize student art exhibitions and displays.
  • Coordinate art events, competitions, and cultural activities.
  • Encourage participation in school art programs and community art initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Art Education.
  • Teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching art at middle or high school level.
  • Strong artistic and creative skills
  • Knowledge of art history and contemporary art practices
  • Ability to guide portfolio development and exhibitions
  • Strong classroom and studio management skills
  • Ability to integrate technology in art education
  • Experience teaching in an IB World School.
  • Familiarity with IB assessment and portfolio requirements.
  • Experience guiding students for art exhibitions and projects.
