We are looking for a Front-End - Catering Specialist to join our family-owned Italian grocery and assist us with catering events. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

The Front-End - Catering Specialist contributes to the company’s success by assisting in organizing and preparing for client’s events and providing exceptional service during these events. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong interpersonal skills, being attentive, and being able to work well with a team.  Also, addressing customers’ complaints and requests, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring customers’ needs are met. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong interpersonal skills, patience, and being friendly and courteous.

 

The Front-End – Catering Specialist’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Receiving catering orders in-store / via phone and assisting in the proper assembly of all orders.
• Assisting in coordinating event logistics with clients, including establishing where food will be stationed, when it will be served, and any other relevant procedures.
• Providing high quality customer service by engaging guests and responding to questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Ensuring goods are transported safely and at proper temperatures by utilizing appropriate containers, coolers, and bags.
• Preparing and processing large quantities of foods, including custom and specialty requests.
• Serving food, refreshments, and desserts, and ensuring that all guests’ needs are met.
• Maintaining a presentable and professional demeanor during events.
• Setting up and breaking down events, including moving and placing furniture, equipment, tables, trays, dishware glasses, servings stations, and other service equipment as necessary.
• Complying with sanitation and hygienic standards and regulations.
• Remaining courteous and helpful to all customers and resolving questions and complaints in a pleasant manner.
• Answering incoming phone calls and giving basic information about store hours and service, resolving customer issues, and providing other appropriate information over the phone as needed.
• Monitoring sales activities and customer transactions to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service.
• Processing refunds and exchanges, sorting damaged products, and returning unwanted items to shelves.
• Managing the register and handling cash, credit/debit, check, and gift card transactions with customers.
• Following store procedures regarding purchase of specialty items such as alcohol and cigarettes.
• Resolving customer complaints and escalating customer concerns to management as necessary.
• Sorting and bagging goods so as not to contaminate other goods and ensure they are safe for transport.
• Reporting all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity (including theft or fraud) to management.

The Catering / Front-End Specialist’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.

The ideal candidate for the Front-End – Catering Specialist’s position:

• Has previous experience in catering, in a retail grocery store, or as a customer service representative.
• Possesses strong listening skills and attention to detail to ensure client’s requests are properly met.
• Can work expeditiously and efficiently; and multi-task as needed.
• Works well under pressure.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.
• Possesses strong customer service and communication skills.
• Has a positive attitude and can handle customer complaints / issues with diplomacy and tact.
• Possesses basic math skills.
• Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Can relate cordially with customers.
