Description

About EPIARX

EPIARX Diagnostics is a private pathology practice serving hospitals, families, and funeral homes with postmortem diagnostic services delivered with dignity, precision, and compassion. Our work happens behind the scenes, but it plays a vital role in helping grieving families find answers when they matter most.

We’re growing — and we’re looking for a responsible, composed, and professional driver to join our team and support one of the most sensitive parts of our mission: transport.

About the Role

As a Transport Driver – Medical Pathology Support, you’ll be responsible for driving company vehicles to transport individuals who have passed away from hospitals, residences, or funeral homes to our autopsy facility or other designated locations. You’ll also assist with logistics, vehicle readiness, and supply upkeep — and may support other administrative tasks when not on the road.

This is a full-time, non-exempt W2 role. Hours vary based on case volume and routing needs. Overtime is paid for all hours over 40 in a week. Weekend and evening availability is required, and longer drives (occasionally requiring overnights) may occur 1–2 times per month.

What You’ll Do

  • Transport deceased individuals safely and respectfully in company vehicles
  • Communicate professionally with funeral home staff, hospital personnel, and families
  • Maintain transport vans in clean, operational condition, stocked with required supplies
  • Assist with transfers, paperwork, and proper documentation during pickups and deliveries
  • Comply with EPIARX Driving Policies, including:
  • Operating with due regard for safety
  • Zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, or impairing substances
  • Assuming responsibility for citations or infractions when deemed at fault
  • Reporting any external driving violations while under contract
  • Occasionally travel to locations beyond the DMV (e.g., Delaware, Pennsylvania, NJ, NC)
  • Support non-driving tasks when needed, including inventory checks or minor admin support
  • Represent EPIARX with empathy, precision, and professionalism at every stop
Requirements

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Successful background and reference check
  • Prior experience in funeral services or autopsy transport preferred
  • Experience working in environments with sensitive information or emotional client interactions strongly preferred
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and safely move deceased individuals using gurneys
  • Comfort working in proximity to the deceased
  • Punctuality and strong time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and phone/text-based communication tools
  • Clear, confident communication — even under emotional or high-stakes circumstances
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting at $20–$25/hour, depending on experience
  • Eligible for overtime after 40 hours per week
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance
  • Paid time off after 3 months
  • 401(k) and commuter benefits after 6 months
  • Stipend or meal coverage for long-haul driving shifts
  • Future opportunity to grow into a Driver Team Lead role
