Role Description The Hydroponics Farmer will manage day-to-day operations of hydroponic and aquaponic systems at PonicOne’s on-site farm in Hyderabad. Responsibilities include monitoring plant health, adjusting nutrient solutions, managing water quality, and ensuring optimal environmental conditions for vertical farming. The role involves seeding, transplanting, pruning, harvesting, and post-harvest handling to maintain consistent quality and yield of leafy greens and salad vegetables. The Hydroponics Farmer will perform routine equipment checks, basic maintenance of pumps and irrigation systems, and keep accurate records of production, inputs, and system performance. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring regular collaboration with the farm management team to support innovation, sustainability goals, and continuous improvement of farming practices.
Qualifications
- Practical experience or strong interest in hydroponics, aquaponics, or vertical farming, with the ability to manage nutrient solutions and water quality.
- Knowledge of plant biology and horticulture, including seeding, transplanting, pest monitoring, and harvesting of leafy vegetables.
- Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on farm equipment and automated systems such as pumps, filters, and irrigation lines.
- Strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and the capacity to follow standard operating procedures for food safety and quality.
- Physical ability to work on-site in farm conditions, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working in varying temperatures.
- Commitment to sustainability, chemical-free farming practices, and safe handling of organic produce.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic team environment.
- Preferred: Diploma or degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: Prior experience in greenhouse operations, controlled environment agriculture, or urban farming in India.
