Summary
The Finance and Accounting Manager in Training supports the Finance & Accounting (F/A) Team and assists in all department activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties in this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Acts as the back-up in the Finance and Accounting Director's and Manager's absence.
- Supports the F/A team by learning the approved goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, travel and payroll.
- Supports the F/A team in the preparation of various reports and deliverables.
- Learns processes for the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures as backup.
- Gain an understanding of the general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, cost, property, operating expenses, and insurance records.
- Supports internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- Learn to coordinate and prepare external audit materials and required reporting.
- Support the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides support to the Finance & Accounting Director and Finance & Accounting Manager in processes of the F/A Department. Carries out the Director's objectives in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolving problems; interviewing, hiring, and training employees.

Education and/or Experience
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university preferred and a minimum of six (6) years related experience and/or training;
- Eight (8) years of experience may substitute for education.
- Two (2) years of experience in the government contract DoD environment preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality a must.
- Ability to maintain high level of attention to detail is required.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Time and Expense software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
