About the Role:

Assist Project Engineer on organizing, coordinating, and managing onsite construction engineering activities for large, extensive projects. Key technical person on projects. May be responsible for more than one project.

Over the past numerous years, customers throughout Southern California territory have come to rely on Herman Weissker Power for their electrical utility construction services. 13 years ago, when the Meruelo Group Enterprises began to build this new division, they used the same simple philosophy – do it right the first time, every time. Today, Herman Weissker Power, Inc. still follows this same philosophy.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who enjoy the challenge of working on projects in the growing civil construction industry.

 

Key Responsibilities:

²  Tasking projects

²  Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities.  Includes personnel planning and administration, and work assignments.

²  Ensures project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and supports overall construction schedule.

²  Provides technical support for construction efforts including participation in construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of design conflicts; constructability reviews, etc.

²  Develops implements and administers project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents.

²  Represents the Company, project and/or department during A/E, client and project management meetings.

²  Interfaces all on-site departments as required to resolve conflicts, ensure quality of construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule.

²  Follows all requirements of the company’s safety program.  Takes personal responsibility for safety in working environment.  Promotes safety among peers, subordinates and supervisors.   

²  Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

²  Record all changes made during construction that differ from the original design.

²  Modify design drawings to reflect field changes.

²  Ensure revisions are clear, accurate, and follow drafting standards.

²  Organize all markups, sketches, RFIs, and change orders that impact the As-Builts.

²  Produce final As-Built drawings in required formats (PDF, CAD, BIM)

²  Walk the site to confirm tasks are actually completed.

²  Check quality and compliance with plans/specs.

²  Coordinate with supervisor for sign-off.

 

Qualifications:

²  A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.

²  Minimum 3 years of similar construction engineering experience

²  Possess or ability to obtain a valid class C California driver's license

²  Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes standards, etc., plus an in depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional unities required.

²  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.  Registration as a Professional Engineer is valuable. 

²  Working conditions consist of temperature-controlled buildings or offices, outside elements such as rain, cold, and heat when working with in open environments, driving from various locations or attending meetings, etc. Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on work location.
