HVAC Technician (HVAC & Refrigeration)
Location: Sanand, Gujarat.
Job Summary
The HVAC Technician will support project execution and facility operations in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The role involves installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems with strong emphasis on cleanroom and critical environment requirements.
The technician must have hands-on technical experience, work closely with vendors and contractors, and ensure strict adherence to EHS, PTW, and semiconductor industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Installation Support
- Support HVAC system installation, testing, and commissioning (T&C) activities
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for project execution
- Review and interpret HVAC drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and schematics
- Assist in equipment inspection, FAT/SAT, and punch point closures
- Monitor project timelines and ensure quality and compliance standards
Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain HVAC systems including: Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Precision Air Conditioning (PAC) units, VRF / VRV systems, Split AC systems, Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, Troubleshoot and rectify faults in HVAC & refrigeration systems
Refrigeration & Technical Activities
- Perform refrigerant charging, recovery, leak testing, and vacuuming
- Maintain and troubleshoot refrigeration systems using different refrigerants
- Monitor and record: Temperature, Pressure, Humidity.
- Ensure proper oil management and compressor health
Vendor & Coordination Activities
- Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors and contractors
- Verify work execution as per specifications and safety standards
- Support spares management and material follow-ups
- Ensure completion of checklists, reports, and documentation
EHS & Compliance
- Follow strict adherence to: Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Comply with Micron EHS standards and cleanroom protocols
- Maintain 6S / 5S housekeeping practices
- Report incidents, near misses, and safety observations
Mandatory Refrigeration Skills
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycle and thermodynamics
- Experience with refrigerants such as: R134a, R410A, R407C or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with: Scroll compressors, Screw compressors, Reciprocating compressors
- Proficiency in: Leak detection, System evacuation and vacuuming, Refrigerant recovery and charging
Qualifications & Experience
- ITI / Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / HVAC
- 3–7 years of experience in: Industrial HVAC systems, Semiconductor / cleanroom / Pharma/data center environments (preferred)
- Exposure to project execution & installation activities is mandatory
