Role Description
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to manage the overall HR function across our retail outlets, customer support operations, and manufacturing or laundry-processing facilities.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. The HR Manager will oversee the recruitment team and manage end-to-end HR activities, including manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee engagement, labour management, attendance, payroll coordination, statutory compliance, disciplinary processes, and employee relations.
The role requires a strong understanding of workforce management in service-oriented and manufacturing environments. The HR Manager will also be responsible for promoting workplace discipline, implementing 5S practices, supporting quality standards, and building a productive and positive work culture across the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment and Workforce Planning
- Manage and guide the recruitment team to meet hiring requirements across stores, customer support, logistics, administration, and factory operations.
- Develop recruitment plans based on current manpower requirements and future business growth.
- Monitor recruitment performance, including vacancies, hiring timelines, joining ratios, offer dropouts, and employee retention.
- Coordinate with department heads to understand staffing requirements and workforce productivity expectations.
- Build reliable recruitment channels for frontline, skilled, supervisory, managerial, and support roles.
HR Operations
- Manage end-to-end employee onboarding, documentation, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and separation processes.
- Oversee attendance, leave, shift, overtime, weekly-off, and holiday-management processes.
- Coordinate payroll inputs accurately and ensure timely submission to the payroll or finance team.
- Maintain employee records, HR documentation, letters, contracts, and personnel files.
- Implement and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and systems.
Training and Development
- Identify training requirements in coordination with department managers and supervisors.
- Develop and coordinate induction, technical, behavioral, customer-service, safety, and supervisory training programs.
- Ensure new employees receive proper orientation and role-specific training.
- Track training attendance, employee performance improvement, and training effectiveness.
- Develop supervisors, team leaders, recruiters, and department managers through structured training and coaching.
Performance and Team Management
- Implement performance-management systems with clear targets, KPIs, reviews, and improvement plans.
- Support managers in evaluating employee performance, productivity, discipline, attendance, and behavioral standards.
- Manage performance-improvement plans for underperforming employees.
- Drive employee accountability while maintaining fair and transparent HR practices.
- Support leadership in succession planning and the development of high-performing employees.
Employee Relations and Labour Management
- Manage employee grievances, disciplinary matters, workplace conflicts, counselling, and corrective actions.
- Build trust and effective communication across employees, supervisors, managers, and leadership.
- Handle labour-related challenges in a fair, practical, and legally compliant manner.
- Support effective management of a diverse workforce, including frontline, contract, skilled, semi-skilled, and factory employees.
- Improve employee retention and reduce absenteeism, attrition, and workplace disputes.
Compliance and HR Governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory requirements, company policies, and employment standards.
- Coordinate statutory documentation and compliance requirements with consultants or relevant departments.
- Ensure disciplinary and grievance processes are properly documented.
- Conduct periodic HR audits and identify gaps in employee records, attendance, payroll inputs, policies, and compliance.
- Prepare HR reports and dashboards for management review.
5S and Quality Standards
- Support the implementation and monitoring of 5S practices across offices, stores, warehouses, and production facilities.
- Promote workplace organization, cleanliness, standardization, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with operations and quality teams to ensure employees follow defined SOPs and quality standards.
- Conduct periodic workplace audits and support corrective-action plans.
- Build employee awareness regarding safety, quality, productivity, hygiene, and process compliance.
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Plan and execute employee engagement, recognition, communication, and welfare initiatives.
- Develop programs to improve employee motivation, teamwork, workplace discipline, and retention.
- Promote a performance-driven, customer-focused, and respectful workplace culture.
- Act as a bridge between employees, department managers, and senior leadership.
- Support organizational change and business expansion initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Human Resources will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding, HR operations, performance management, employee relations, and training.
- Strong experience in labour management and handling frontline or factory employees.
- Experience working in retail, service-oriented, logistics, hospitality, facility-management, laundry, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of local labour laws, statutory compliance, disciplinary procedures, and grievance handling.
- Experience managing payroll coordination, attendance, leave, overtime, and employee documentation.
- Experience in implementing 5S, workplace quality standards, SOPs, or continuous-improvement practices.
- Ability to manage and develop recruiters, HR executives, trainers, supervisors, and operational teams.
- Proficiency in HRIS, attendance systems, Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and HR-related software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, counselling, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work on-site, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong people-management experience in a service-oriented or operations-intensive organization.
- Expertise in labour management, employee discipline, attendance control, and workforce productivity.
- Previous exposure to manufacturing, production, retail operations, or multi-location businesses.
- Experience managing recruitment teams and high-volume frontline hiring.
- Knowledge of 5S, quality-management systems, workplace safety, and process standardization.
- Hands-on, approachable, disciplined, and capable of working closely with employees at all organizational levels.
- Comfortable visiting different outlets and operational locations when required.
