Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Logistics
About
PCCS Logistics Pvt. Ltd. has operated for over two decades without a dedicated HR function. We are now hiring our first HR Manager to build the complete Human Resources function from the ground up — policies, compliance systems, recruitment processes, performance management, and employee documentation — rather than to maintain an existing one. This is a founding, hands-on role for someone who can establish HR as a credible, trusted function in an organization where people-decisions have historically been made informally by department and operations heads.
The ideal candidate combines strong statutory and compliance rigor with the assertiveness and confidence to introduce structure where none has existed before — including in a workforce that includes warehouse staff, drivers, and contract/vendor-supplied labour, in addition to office-based employees.
Key Responsibility
- Design, establish, and continuously refine HR policies, procedures, and SOPs from scratch, covering the full employee lifecycle — hiring through exit.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and manpower planning across departments, including office staff, warehouse/operations personnel, and contract labour.
- Introduce and lead a structured performance management and appraisal process where none currently exists, including goal-setting, review cycles, and documentation.
- Handle employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary matters directly and professionally — including difficult, first-of-their-kind conversations in an organization unaccustomed to formal HR intervention.
- Set up and administer payroll processing, attendance, and leave management systems, including for a dispersed / non-office-based workforce.
- Establish and ensure full compliance with Indian labour laws and statutory requirements (PF, ESIC, Shops & Establishment Act, Contract Labour Act, Bonus Act, Gratuity, and other applicable regulations) — building compliance infrastructure where it may not currently exist.
- Design and drive employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives suited to a first-time-HR environment.
- Conduct employee induction, onboarding, and training & development programs.
- Build and maintain HR documentation, records, MIS reports, and employee databases from the ground up.
- Act as a credible, trusted strategic HR partner to leadership — earning that role through consistent execution rather than inherited authority.
- Manage relationships with manpower/staffing vendors, contractors, and government/labour authorities.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 7+ years of HR experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role; prior experience setting up or building an HR function from scratch is strongly preferred.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance, and HR policy drafting.
- Demonstrated assertiveness and comfort handling resistance — able to introduce and enforce new processes with staff and managers unaccustomed to formal HR oversight.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization.
- Prior experience in logistics, courier, manufacturing, or other operations-heavy sectors with a mixed office/field/contract workforce is a strong plus.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRMS/payroll software/tools.
Comfortable with both the strategic and the repetitive operational groundwork required to institutionalize a new HR function.
Educational Qualification
- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent qualification, OR
- Master's Degree in Human Resources / HRM, OR
- MBA (any specialization) with substantial, demonstrable HR experience.
Female Candidates Preferred
Candidates must have prior experience in the Logistics / Supply Chain / Courier Industry.
