HR GENERALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations & HR Support
· Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned restaurant leaders and
employees.
· Assist with employee relations matters, including investigations, documentation, conflict resolution, and follow-up actions.
· Collect, organize, and maintain relevant documentation, such as witness statements, video footage, timelines, and supporting evidence.
· Provide guidance on attendance, performance expectations, policy interpretation,
and employee concerns.
· Respond to HR-related questions in a timely, professional, and consistent manner.
· Identify trends, recurring issues, and potential risks related to employee relations, compliance, and engagement.
· Escalate complex or high-risk matters to the Director of Human Resources with clear
summaries and recommendations.
Onboarding and Offboarding
· Support onboarding processes, including system setup, background checks, and compliance tasks, to ensure a smooth and positive new-hire experience.
· Coordinate offboarding activities, including separation letters, system updates, and compliance requirements.
· Manage and maintain I-9 and E-Verify processes, including resolution of Tentative Nonconfirmations.
· Troubleshoot and correct onboarding errors.
· Assist with unemployment claims and hearing preparation.
HR Systems & Data Administration
· Maintain accurate employee data across HR systems, including Paylocity, Paradox, Harri, Deel, DISA, The Work Number, and other company platforms.
· Process employee changes, including status updates, transfers, promotions,
demotions, and corrections.
· Configure system access and permissions for managers and leaders.
· Troubleshoot and correct data entry errors and omissions.
· Manage employment verifications through The Work Number.
· Support reporting and data accuracy for compliance, operational, and leadership
needs.
Benefits Administration
· Support the annual open enrollment process.
· Assist employees with benefits questions, enrollment guidance, and issue resolution.
· Maintain accurate benefits records in Paylocity, including enrollments, terminations, qualifying changes, promotions, demotions, and other updates.
· Complete Evidence of Insurability documentation.
· Update earnings and deduction codes.
· Manage COBRA events.
· Support ACA eligibility tracking and reporting.
· Resolve EDI carrier discrepancies.
Workers’ Compensation & Risk Management
· File workers’ compensation claims and coordinate with carriers, adjusters, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
· Complete and submit required documentation, including wage statements, physical demand analyses, incident details, and related records.
· Track claims and support follow-up communication through resolution.
· Assist with correcting workers’ compensation coding and reporting errors.
· Coordinate setup of new workers’ compensation accounts for new restaurant openings and acquisitions.
Compliance, Reporting & Projects
· Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, leave administration, workplace safety, and employment eligibility requirements.
· Support FMLA administration, including document distribution, tracking, follow-up, and recordkeeping.
· Respond to state agency inquiries, including Department of Human Services
requests.
· Assist with monthly and quarterly BLS reporting.
· Support company initiatives such as new store openings, acquisitions, entity changes,
audits, and HR process improvements.
· Assist with preparing responses, reports, and documentation related to minor labor, wage and hour, and other compliance audits.
· Support safety and compliance communication initiatives, including tracking and reporting completion metrics for programs such as the Safety Newsletter.
Manager Support & HR Programs
· Partner with restaurant leaders to strengthen manager capability, consistency, and
decision-making.
· Provide coaching, guidance, and tools to support effective performance management and employee engagement.
· Lead or support HR initiatives related to engagement, retention, performance,
compliance, and employee experience.
· Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies, SOPs, training materials, and manager resources.
· Recommend and implement process improvements that increase HR efficiency and
service quality.
HR GENERALIST QUALIFICATIONS
· 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or another multi-unit environment.
· Working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance
requirements.
· Experience supporting employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and
discretion.
· Strong communication, problem-solving, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support multiple
locations in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and digital documentation tools.
