About the Role
Spectra Constructions is a Bengaluru based real estate developer building premium residential projects under the promise Living, Built by Design. Our workforce is split between a head office team and a large site based workforce.
The HR Manager owns the full people function end to end — statutory compliance, contract labour governance, hiring, payroll inputs, performance systems and staff welfare. This is a hands-on, build-the-system role, not a maintenance role. You will be expected to close compliance gaps, put process where there is none, and make site HR data accurate and auditable.
Key Responsibilities
1. Statutory & Labour Law Compliance
- Own end-to-end compliance under BOCW Act, Contract Labour (R&A) Act, ISMW Act, EPF, ESIC, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages, Bonus, Gratuity, Karnataka Shops & Establishments and Labour Welfare Cess.
- Maintain all statutory registers, returns, licences and renewals. Run periodic contractor compliance audits: labour licence validity, PF/ESI remittance proof, wage registers, age verification, insurance coverage. Be the single point of contact for labour department inspections, notices and audits.
2. Talent Acquisition
- Own hiring across all departments for both the head office and various project sites.
- Build and maintain the sourcing pipeline (job portals, consultants, campus, referrals) and manage cost-per-hire.
- Run structured interviews with hiring managers; drive offer closure, documentation and joining formalities.
- Reduce time-to-fill for critical site roles and build a standing bench for repeat positions.
3. Payroll, Attendance & HR Operations
- Own monthly payroll inputs — attendance, overtime, leave, advances, deductions, full & final settlements — and coordinate with Accounts for disbursement.
- Maintain accurate employee master data, personnel files, contracts, confirmations and exit records.
- Administer leave policy, travel and reimbursement policy, and site allowances.
4. Performance Management & Organisation Building
- Roll out and run a KRA/KPI-based performance system for head office and site staff, with defined review cadence.
- Build clear job descriptions, reporting lines and grade structure across departments.
- Identify skill gaps and run training plans — technical, safety and behavioural.
- Drive confirmation, increment and promotion cycles with objective inputs.
5. Employee Relations, Welfare & Culture
- Handle grievances, disciplinary matters, show-cause notices and terminations in line with law and natural justice.
- Ensure labour welfare standards at site: drinking water, sanitation, rest areas, canteen, first-aid and labour accommodation where provided.
- Constitute and run the Internal Committee under the POSH Act; conduct mandatory awareness sessions.
- Build the practices that make Spectra a workplace people stay with.
6. HR MIS & Reporting
- Publish a monthly HR dashboard: headcount, attrition, hiring funnel, cost per head, compliance status, site labour trend.
- Bring HR data into the same reporting discipline as the rest of the business — accurate, on time, no reconstruction after the fact.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- MBA/PGDM in HR.
- 12-15 years in HR, with at least 3 years in construction, real estate or infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour legislation, especially BOCW, CLRA, EPF and ESIC in the Karnataka context.
- Demonstrated experience running payroll and statutory filings independently.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable with biometric attendance and HRMS platforms.
- Fluent in English and Kannada; Hindi an advantage.
Preferred
Experience with a reputed real estate developer running multiple concurrent residential projects.
