This Is Not a Maintenance Role
You won't be inheriting a polished HR function and keeping it ticking.
You'll be walking into a real, active growth environment — where we're making senior hires, managing performance across a technical workforce, protecting company agreements, and trying to hold culture together while the headcount doubles.
The person we need has done this before. Has made mistakes doing it. And built systems that outlasted their personal involvement.
What You'll Own
Culture & Identity Define what Aelum stands for beyond its pitch deck. Translate values into behaviours, rituals, and accountability structures that scale with the company.
Retention Attrition is a real challenge at our stage. You'll diagnose root causes, design interventions, and build systems that identify at-risk employees before they resign — not after.
Employee Relations & Discipline Own the hard conversations. PIPs, disciplinary processes, agreement breaches, conflict resolution. Clear, fair, legally sound — and consistently enforced across the organisation.
Compliance & Contracts Audit and remediate employment agreements, NDAs, and policies. Build a governance framework that protects the company and treats employees with clarity.
People Operations Rebuild or redesign core processes — onboarding, offboarding, performance cycles, compensation reviews — fit for a company that is growing fast and can't afford to operate on legacy processes.
HR Team Hire and develop the internal HR function. Coach line managers. Be the person leaders turn to when things get complicated.
Who We're Looking For
Experience
- 10–15 years in HR, with at least 4–5 years in a senior leadership role
- Demonstrated experience scaling a company from 250 to 600+ employees — this is non-negotiable
- Deep hands-on expertise in employee relations, disciplinary management, and employment law
- Strong background in rebuilding or professionalising talent acquisition
- Prior experience managing agreement breaches, sensitive investigations, or workforce restructuring

- Commercially minded — you connect people decisions to revenue and growth outcomes
- Direct — you have difficult conversations without waiting to be asked
- Structured — you build processes that work without you being in the room
- Empathetic but firm — you care about people and enforce accountability, both without apology
- Experienced enough to know what the CEO doesn't need to hear, and confident enough to say what they do
What Year One Looks Like
Attrition - Root cause diagnosed, retention framework live, voluntary exits declining
Hiring - Structured, scalable process across all functions
Compliance - All agreements audited, gaps remediated, policy framework in place
Culture - Values defined, operationalised, visible in day-to-day processes
ER Framework - Disciplinary and performance management framework live and in use
HR Team - Core team hired, trained, and operating independently
