About Platestory
We're a premium custom cake brand operating across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore (launching September 2026). We build celebration cakes around craft, finish, and storytelling — and we're scaling fast. People are our only real competitive advantage.
The Role
We're hiring our first dedicated People & Culture person. This is a ground-up role — you'll own hiring across every level of the business (yes, from facility staff to senior city leads), and build the learning systems that shape how our teams grow.

What You'll Do
🔹 Hiring (your biggest hat)
- Source and hire across a wide range — housekeeping, delivery ops, bakers, sales executives, marketers, and senior team members
- Build sourcing channels suited to different profiles: walk-ins and referrals for ops, culinary institutes for bakers, LinkedIn for senior roles
- Run structured assessments — practical trials for kitchen staff, work samples for creative hires, structured conversations for leadership
- Build a bench for high-churn roles so we're never caught off guard
🔹 Learning & Development
- Help run Platestory's internal training institution — a structured curriculum for our baker and ops teams
- Own onboarding: every new hire gets a clear first-30-days plan regardless of role
- Build SOPs, training checklists, and role handbooks in coordination with team leads
🔹 People Ops
- Manage offers, documentation, and employee records across cities
- Be the first point of contact for employee concerns — with speed and fairness
- Flag retention risks early; don't wait for someone to resign
Who We're Looking For
✅ Fresher (2024/2025 grad) with a genuine interest in HR and recruitment — you'll join as a paid intern at ₹10,000/month for 4 months and convert to full-time based on performance
✅ OR 1 year of HR experience, especially in hiring — you've sourced, screened, and closed candidates before · ₹15,000–₹23,000/month based on experience
✅ Comfortable hiring across levels — you don't have a one-size-fits-all approach
✅ Fluent in Tamil | Working English | Basic Hindi (minimum)
✅ Based in Chennai, available to work from office
✅ Flexible — launches, hiring surges, and training cohorts don't follow a 9-to-5
✅ You're a builder, not a form-filler
What 6 Months Looks Like
By September, Coimbatore is fully staffed and onboarded on time. A talent bench exists for every critical role. The training institution is running with real cohorts. Every employee knows what's expected of them in their first 30 days.
