About the role

Background

The Serious Injury department is a multidisciplinary team which represents claimants and their families following life changing injuries such as traumatic head, brain, spinal cord injury, amputations, polytrauma and fatal injuries. The specialist team provides help and support with a heavy emphasis on rehabilitation.

Hugh James is a trusted legal partner of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), approved solicitors by Headway UK, Brake, RoadPeace, Horatio’s Garden, Child Brain Injury Trust, and The Limbless Association.

Our solicitors have been consistently ranked in the top tiers by the independent legal guides, Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, as leaders in the field of personal injury and specifically spinal cord and brain injury litigation.

The Role

The Serious Injury team is looking for an experienced Senior Solicitor to act on behalf of a variety of clients including children and adults who have suffered life changing injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and polytrauma as a result of road traffic collisions, accidents at work and assaults. The solicitor will also deal with fatal accident work and pursuing claims on behalf of dependants and estates.

The role will involve dealing directly with clients, their families, healthcare professionals and counsel to achieve the best possible rehabilitation and outcome in terms of settlement of their claim. Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and the principles that need to be adhered to is beneficial but not essential as training in this niche specialist area will be given.

We are looking for a hardworking, client-centered, forward-thinking, diligent, enthusiastic, sociable individual who can bring a dynamic and vibrant approach to the role. Ideally the candidate will be keen to become involved in business development opportunities and support charities that support catastrophically injured people.

The successful candidate will work closely with the other partners and lawyers in the team but will also be able to proactively manage their own caseload.
