HT Cable Design & Costing Engineer – USA / LATAM Export (Diversity Candidates Preferred)

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced HT Cable Design & Costing Engineer to support our Export Division catering to the USA and LATAM markets. The candidate should have strong expertise in the design, costing, and techno-commercial proposal preparation of High Tension XLPE Power Cables (11 kV–69 kV) for international utility, industrial, EPC, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HT XLPE Power Cables (11 kV–69 kV) as per customer specifications and applicable North American and LATAM standards.
- Prepare cable construction drawings, design calculations, technical datasheets, GA drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Perform conductor sizing, insulation design, metallic shielding design, ampacity calculations, short-circuit withstand calculations, voltage drop analysis, and cable construction optimization.
- Prepare accurate product costing considering raw materials, manufacturing processes, testing, packing, freight, and export-specific commercial requirements.
- Review RFQs, technical specifications, bid documents, and customer standards, and prepare techno-commercial quotations.
- Coordinate with Export Sales, Production, Procurement, Quality, and R&D teams for timely submission of offers and execution of orders.
- Support value engineering, cost optimization, localization, and new product development initiatives.
- Provide technical support during customer discussions, technical clarifications, and pre-order engineering activities.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in HT XLPE Power Cable Design & Costing (11 kV–69 kV).
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Conductor sizing
- Insulation design (XLPE)
- Metallic shielding/screen design
- Current carrying capacity (Ampacity)
- Short-circuit calculations
- Cable construction optimization
- Technical documentation and datasheet preparation
- Good understanding of export customer requirements for North America and LATAM.
- Experience in techno-commercial proposal preparation and costing for export projects.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, ERP/SAP, and cable design software (preferred).
Standards Knowledge
Candidates should have working knowledge of one or more of the following standards:
- ANSI/ICEA
- AEIC
- IEEE (applicable to HT cable systems)
- UL (where applicable)
- NEC/NFPA 70 (installation awareness)
- IEC 60502-2 (for applicable LATAM projects)
Knowledge of utility specifications and export documentation for North American projects will be an added advantage.
Preferred Industry Background
Candidates from manufacturers of HT/MV power cables supplying utility, industrial, renewable energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, or EPC projects for the USA or LATAM export markets will be preferred.
