Job Summary
To ensure a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety policies, conducting training, auditing safety practices, and ensuring compliance with statutory and industry-specific regulations, especially related to electrical and manufacturing hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge of conducting Toolbox Talks effectively.
- Familiar with statutory safety documentation and legal compliance requirements.
- Certified in First Aid, with the ability to respond to medical emergencies on-site.
- Coordinate shop floor EHS activities, including safety inspection rounds and follow-up on findings until closure.
- Responsible for conducting safety training sessions on topics such as PPE usage, basic safety awareness, accident prevention, and fire safety, including demonstrations.
- Conduct and facilitate Safety Committee Meetings at regular intervals.
- Maintain accurate records related to MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), accident reports, and corrective actions taken.
- Assist in or provide specialized training sessions on environmental, health, and safety topics to company personnel.
- Prepare and submit various internal and external safety reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Maintain documentation and filing systems as per the requirements of statutory authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Identify and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of safety incidents.
- Ensure all necessary safety equipment and personal protective gear are available, maintained, and used by personnel.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks of safety equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Emergency Response Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for situations like fire, electrical hazards, and workplace injuries.
- Organize and conduct emergency drills and training exercises.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of safety incidents, inspections, and follow-up actions.
- Prepare and submit safety performance reports to management and applicable authorities.
- Safety Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related queries and concerns from employees and stakeholders.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging the reporting of unsafe conditions or potential hazards.
Qualifications
- Education: Any Degree or Diploma.
- Experience: 0-2 years in a safety role within an electrical equipment manufacturing or industrial setup.
- Certifications: NEBOSH Advances Diploma Industrial Safety or IOSH (preferred).
- Knowledge: Electrical safety protocols, EHS regulations (Factory Act, BIS norms, IEC/IS standards), incident investigation techniques.
- Skills: Excellent observation, analytical, communication, and documentation skills. Proficient in MS Office and safety audit tools.
- Workplaces: Regularly field visits or vendor inspections be required.
