What would you do? You will be aligned with Accenture s Finance Operations vertical, serving as a senior practitioner and subject matter expert for Global Payroll Operations within a managed services engagement. You will execute and oversee complex payroll input management, controls, and validation activities across multiple international payroll cycles, while supporting team members and contributing to SOP governance, quality assurance, and process improvement. You will act as a key point of escalation for operational issues and serve as an SME for onboarding and training activities. Payroll run execution, gross-to-net processing, tax determination, statutory filings, and final approval authority are handled internally by the business and are not part of this role. Global Payroll Operations covers the end-to-end process of managing international payroll inputs, controls, validation, and reconciliation activities, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time across all in-scope countries. This includes pre-payroll input management, variance analysis, payroll control and validation, post-payroll reconciliation, vendor interaction, and operational reporting. Payroll run execution, gross-to-net processing, and statutory filings are handled by in-country vendors and retained internally; Accenture s role is focused on operational support, validation, controls execution, and exception management within a defined SOP framework.
What are we looking for? What Are We Looking For? 4–6 years of experience in payroll operations or payroll processing, with in-depth knowledge of multi-country payroll cycles Strong understanding of payroll controls and checks, including period-over-period reconciliation, variance analysis, input vs. output validation, and zero/negative net pay reporting Hands-on experience with payroll or HR systems for input loading, data validation, and reporting Clear understanding of payroll performance metrics including SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs Awareness of SOX controls, payroll audit requirements, and data confidentiality standards Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLookup, Pivot Tables, and data analysis Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members Payroll certification preferred (e.g., CPP, CIPP) Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact effectively with internal stakeholders Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or equivalent process improvement exposure a plus Familiarity with multi-country payroll vendor platforms and aggregator tools a plus
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Roles and Responsibilities Execute the full range of payroll input management, validation, and controls activities across in-scope countries per defined SOPs, serving as an SME for complex or non-standard cases Perform period-over-period variance analysis; review and validate payroll calculation outputs; identify and route exceptions to designated internal stakeholders Maintain and oversee audit-ready control packs for each payroll cycle; ensure completeness of checklists, reconciliations, issue logs, and run logs Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on issues and propose appropriate corrective and preventive actions for current remediation and future control Create and maintain effective QC and audit mechanisms within the process to ensure delivery against SLAs Maintain a clear understanding of process performance metrics; support improvements to measurement systems to make reporting more effective and transparent Identify process improvement opportunities that reduce processing time, improve accuracy, or enhance controls; document and escalate recommendations to senior team members Participate in knowledge transfer activities; acquire and maintain in-depth process knowledge as an SME; provide training to new team members during onboarding or process changes Support workload allocation planning across the team; assist with daily stats, reporting, and management operating system activities Provide team members with clarity on responsibilities and direction; support team development activities Produce and distribute standard payroll operational reports and performance dashboards; support weekly and monthly governance reporting Liaise with third-party payroll vendors on day-to-day operational matters; escalate issues through the defined escalation framework Ensure and maintain the security and confidentiality of all payroll data in accordance with defined data handling requirements
