Job Title: HR & People Ops Manager
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat Preferred // Hybrid can be considered

Role mission
Own employee retention, hiring velocity, and a predictable employee experience across the company. Build systems so people problems and people processes do not require founder involvement.
Success in first 90 days
- Diagnose why voluntary attrition is high using data and structured interviews
- Launch a retention plan with weekly actions and monthly reporting
- Cut time to hire for priority roles with a measurable pipeline
- Standardize onboarding and training with updated presentations and checklists
- Implement a clean HR operations stack (or software) for attendance, leave, payroll, documentation
Core responsibilities
Retention and engagement ownership
- Own retention as a metric, monthly voluntary attrition report with root causes by team, manager, tenure band
- Run stay interviews, exit interviews, pulse surveys, then convert findings into actions
- Create manager toolkits for feedback, 1 to 1s, performance conversations, conflict handling
- Build a simple employee lifecycle playbook from offer to exit
- Run monthly culture and morale initiatives that are measurable, not fluffy
Recruitment and hiring velocity
- Own end to end hiring for all roles with clear SLAs
- Partner with team leads to define scorecards, interview process, and offer strategy
- Build sourcing engine using LinkedIn, referrals, job boards, and niche communities
- Maintain a live hiring dashboard by role, stage, aging, blockers
- Drive offer closure, negotiation, and joining formalities, reduce dropouts
HR systems and process design
- Implement or optimize HR software for ATS, HRMS, payroll workflow, and documentation
- Create and maintain policies, handbook, SOPs, templates, compliance checklists
- Standardize attendance, leave, probation confirmation, role changes, letters, records
- Build a clean induction and training system with version controlled decks and materials
- Run regular touch points with new joiners, 7 14 30 day check ins
Employee relations and performance hygiene
- Own grievance handling, complaints, dispute resolution, and documentation
- Run performance cycles, appraisals, goal setting cadence, feedback loops
- Ensure issues are handled fairly, quickly, and with proper documentation
- Escalate only decision points to founder, everything else is owned by HR
Employer reputation and reviews
- Improve employer brand credibility on Glassdoor and other such platforms ethically
- Create an internal program to encourage honest reviews from employees at the right moments
- Track ratings, themes, and respond appropriately where applicable
Payroll and vendor coordination
- Run payroll accurately and on time, coordinate with the accountant, and manage deductions and compliance
- Coordinate with vendors for HR related supplies, gifts, events, and employee kits
- Maintain a calendar of R and R, birthdays, milestones, team events
Compliance and sensitive cases
- Handle misconduct investigations with process, documentation, and confidentiality
- Coordinate with external legal counsel for illegal activities or serious violations
- Ensure termination and disciplinary actions are compliant and defensible
KPIs you will be judged on
- Retention improvement, voluntary attrition trend monthly and quarterly
- Time to hire and time to fill for priority roles
- Interview to Joining Conversion rates
- Employer rating trend and review volume consistency
Required experience and traits
- 4 to 8 years in HR with ownership of retention and employee relations
- Proven hiring ownership in a fast moving services business
- Strong process thinker who builds SOPs, templates, dashboards
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- Calm with conflict, confident with managers, discreet with sensitive issues
- Data first mindset, can show trends, root causes, and actions
- Strong documentation discipline, does not operate on vibes
Nice to have
- Experience in digital agency or IT services environment
- Hands on experience with ATS and HRMS tools
- Exposure to performance frameworks and manager coaching
