About Us
We are a fast-growing, pre-Series A technology startup headquartered in the United States, with our core operations and engineering team based in Bengaluru, India. We build cutting-edge software products for clients across the US and are scaling our team rapidly. Our culture is energetic, transparent, and driven — we move fast, own our work, and take pride in building things that matter.
As we grow, we are looking for a sharp, self-driven HR and Office Administration Manager to be the backbone of our India operations — someone who understands the nuances of a cross-border startup environment and can wear multiple hats with ease.
Role Overview
This is a dual-function, high-ownership role combining Human Resources, Office Administration, and cross-border compliance. You will be the go-to person for all people operations in India, acting as the bridge between our Bengaluru team and US leadership. This role demands someone with a strong sense of urgency, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to operate independently while staying aligned with the broader business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
- End-to-end recruitment: sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and onboarding for India-based roles
- Manage employee lifecycle — contracts, offer letters, confirmations, performance reviews, exits, and F&F settlements
- Maintain HR records, HRMS data, and ensure documentation is always audit-ready
- Drive employee engagement, culture initiatives, and internal communications
- Manage payroll inputs, leaves, attendance, and coordinate with the payroll vendor
- Administer benefits — health insurance, PF, ESIC, gratuity, and other statutory benefits
- Be the first point of contact for employee grievances and HR queries
India–US Compliance & Legal
- Ensure full compliance with Indian labor laws: Shops & Establishments Act, PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Gratuity, Maternity Benefit Act, etc.
- Manage compliance under the IT Act, PDPB (India's Personal Data Protection framework), and applicable DPDP Act 2023 obligations
- Support India-facing aspects of US compliance requirements: maintain documentation for contracts, background checks, IP agreements, and NDAs
- Liaise with legal counsel in India and the US on employment agreements, contractor classifications, and cross-border data handling
- Ensure adherence to SOC 2, ISO, or similar frameworks as required by client contracts
- Stay current on regulatory changes in India-US cross-border employment and tech compliance
Data Security & Privacy
- Implement and enforce data security policies aligned with organizational standards and client requirements
- Manage device policies, access controls, and onboarding/offboarding data hygiene
- Coordinate with the engineering team on data handling SOPs for India-based employees
- Conduct periodic internal audits and support external audits when required
Finance & Administration
- Own vendor management: office supplies, internet, utilities, equipment leases, AMCs, and service contracts
- Process expense claims, petty cash, and coordinate with the finance team on India-side invoicing and payments
- Assist with GST documentation, TDS certificates, and coordination with the CA/accounting firm
- Support the US finance team with India-related reports, reconciliations, and intercompany documentation
- Manage office facilities, upkeep, and ensure a productive and safe work environment
Executive & Cross-border Support
- Coordinate meetings, travel, and logistics across India and US time zones
- Support leadership with presentations, reports, and ad hoc operational tasks
- Serve as a communication bridge between India staff and US-based leadership
- Be available and responsive during US business hours as the business requires
What We Are Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3–4 years of progressive experience in HR, Office Administration, or a combined generalist role
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance
- Familiarity with India–US data privacy and security frameworks (IT Act, DPDP Act 2023, and exposure to US equivalents such as CCPA, HIPAA basics, or SOC 2)
- Prior experience in a startup, tech company, or cross-border organization strongly preferred
- Fluency in Kannada, Hindi, and English — written and spoken (non-negotiable)
- Proficiency with tools such as MS Office/Google Workspace, HRMS platforms, and productivity tools (Slack, Notion, or equivalents)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
The Right Mindset
- Go-getter attitude — you don't wait for direction, you take ownership and drive outcomes
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to build processes from scratch in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills — professional, clear, and proactive in keeping stakeholders informed
- High integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee and business information
- Flexible on hours — willing to work early mornings or late evenings to overlap with US teams when needed
- Collaborative team player who thrives when working across cultures and time zones
Good to Have
- MBA in HR or postgraduate degree in Human Resources Management
- Experience with US-India transfer pricing documentation or intercompany agreements
- Exposure to equity (ESOP) administration for Indian employees
- Knowledge of SaaS or product-led tech startup environments
- Familiarity with US immigration basics (H1-B, OPT/CPT coordination) is a plus

We offer competitive compensation in line with Bengaluru market standards for this role and experience level, benchmarked against the tech startup ecosystem. The package includes:
- Fixed CTC commensurate with experience — negotiable for the right candidate
- Health insurance (self + family)
- Direct access to founders and leadership — high visibility, high impact role
