Role Summary
The Lead Administrator – HP Storage is a senior technical role responsible for design,
administration, optimization, and operational leadership of enterprise HP storage
environments.
The role requires deep hands-on expertise, incident and problem management
ownership, and ability to mentor L2 teams, while working closely with infrastructure,
backup, OS, and network teams to ensure high availability, performance, and data
protection.
Primary Skill (Mandatory)
HP Storage Administration
Expertlevel administration of HPE 3PAR / Primera / Alletra storage platforms
Storage provisioning, LUN masking, zoning coordination, and performance tuning
Capacity planning, growth forecasting, and storage optimization
Troubleshooting complex storage performance, latency, and availability issues
Firmware upgrades, health monitoring, and lifecycle management
Disaster recovery planning and support from storage perspective
Vendor coordination with HPE support for critical incidents and RCA
Secondary / Cluster Skills (Required)
Brocade SAN Switch
Fabric administration, zoning (single/dual fabric), and troubleshooting
ISL management, best practices, and firmware upgrades
Performance monitoring and remediation of SAN issues
Linux Administration
Understanding of Linux filesystems, multipathing, and volume management
Storage connectivity troubleshooting (FC/iSCSI)
OSlevel performance and disk I/O analysis
Integration of HP Storage with Veritas NetBackup
Backup/restore troubleshooting for enterprise workloads
Coordination with backup teams during restore and DR scenarios
NetApp Storage (Working Knowledge)
Administration exposure to NetApp ONTAP environments
Provisioning, snapshots, replication (SnapMirror – awareness level)
Crossplatform storage troubleshooting scenarios
Key Responsibilities
Act as L3 escalation point for HP Storagerelated incidents and problems
Own Major Incident resolution, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive actions
Lead planned activities: upgrades, migrations, consolidations, expansions
Ensure SLA compliance for storage availability and performance
Mentor and guide L2/L1 administrators
Participate in oncall rotation / shift support as required
Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles
Proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities in storage operations

HPE SSMC, CLI tools
Brocade Network Advisor / SANnav
Performance and health monitoring tools
ITSM & Monitoring
ServiceNow (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
Monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, OEM storage monitoring
Operating Systems & Utilities
Linux tools for disk, multipath, and performance analysis
Basic scripting exposure (Shell/Python – desirable)
Soft Skills & Behavioral Expectations
Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
Ability to lead technical discussions during outages and bridge calls
Clear and concise communication with stakeholders (technical & nontechnical)

Ability to mentor junior resources and raise team capability

Strong documentation and operational discipline

HPE Storage Certification (3PAR / Primera / Alletra)
Brocade SAN Certification
ITIL Foundation
