Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Hot Runner Systems Design Engineer role based in Vasai. The engineer will design hot runner manifolds, nozzles, and related components, including layout creation, flow balancing, and thermal design to meet customer moulding requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting customer and tool room specifications, developing 3D models and detailed drawings, and collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and reliability. The role involves performing basic calculations, reviewing design for ease of maintenance and energy efficiency, and supporting trials, testing, and design refinements based on shopfloor feedback. The engineer will also interact with customers for technical clarifications, assist in troubleshooting design-related issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of product standards and design practices.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical design skills with proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and 2D drafting tools for manifolds, nozzles, and precision components.
- Knowledge of injection moulding processes, hot runner systems, thermal and flow behavior of polymers, and basic engineering calculations related to stress, heat transfer, and flow.
- Experience in manufacturing-oriented design, including material selection, machining processes, tolerancing, and design for ease of maintenance and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and mould layouts, and convert them into practical hot runner design solutions.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with a structured approach to troubleshooting and optimizing design for performance and reliability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with shopfloor, tooling, and customer teams, including clear documentation of designs and changes.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; prior experience in hot runner or injection mould tooling design is an advantage.
- Comfort working on-site in a manufacturing and engineering environment in Vasai, with a hands-on attitude towards trials
