Description
The Vice President, Finance provides executive leadership and full accountability for the organization’s financial strategy, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance, while ensuring alignment across finance. This role serves as a strategic partner to the Executive Team, guiding decision-making, managing risk, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability in support of organizational goals. As a member of the Executive Team, this role is directly accountable to the President.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Finance and Business Administration
• Hold executive accountability for program contract strategy and governance, ensuring all agreements align with organizational risk tolerance and long-term financial interests.
• Own the Accounting function’s performance and outcomes for business operations and programs, including budget preparation, audit functions, and team leadership; set expectations and hold leaders accountable for results.
• Own the organization’s financial policy framework; ensure all business operations and program finance policies align with legal and regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and executive risk parameters.
• Hold final accountability for business insurance strategy and coverage adequacy; ensure contractual obligations are met and partner relationships are protected.
• Set standards and maintain executive oversight of vendor relationships and agreements, with accountability for organizational risk, value, and performance outcomes.
• Hold executive accountability for the third-party accounting services contract; set performance expectations and ensure monthly financial reporting meets Executive Team standards.
• Oversee monthly program accounting, including financial reporting to partners, invoicing, and bank reconciliation.
• Set standards for financial integrity across the organization; hold final accountability for accurate monthly reconciliation of program and business operations revenue and expenses.
• Lead the annual budget process in direct partnership with the President; own financial projections and long-range planning as a strategic instrument for organizational sustainability.
• Hold executive accountability for all program and business operations financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports; ensure accuracy and transparency to the Board.
• Own the organization’s relationships with financial institutions; make high-stakes decisions on banking, financing, and capital strategy to support organizational sustainability and growth.
• Hold ultimate accountability for all regulatory reporting requirements related to employment and tax; ensure organizational compliance and executive awareness of risk exposure.
• Set the financial support framework for programs; hold accountability for budgeting, invoicing, and cash reconciliation strategies that enable mission delivery.
Strategic Oversight and Support
• Set the vision and strategic direction for Finance, shaping company objectives and long-term organizational performance.
• Serve as a senior strategic advisor to the Executive Team on the alignment of program, operations, and administrative functions; ensure consistency across financial strategy and broader organizational planning.
• Oversee the tracking and coordination of the company’s Objectives and Key Results (OKR) system at the executive level; monitor progress, identify barriers, and support leadership in aligning resources to achieve strategic outcomes.
• Support and facilitate the annual strategic planning with the President and Executive Leadership Team; own the Finance contribution to organizational vision and multi-year planning.
• Establish the frameworks and cadence for executive decision support; ensure leadership has the financial intelligence needed to drive growth, manage risk, and sustain mission impact.
• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships across departments, fostering open communication, shared problem-solving, and mutual accountability.
• Provide support and strategic input on the organization’s benefits strategy and vendor selection, ensuring alignment with employee well-being, talent competitiveness, and organizational financial sustainability.
• Engage proactively with leaders to understand operational needs and provide thoughtful, solutions-oriented support that balances financial stewardship with program and staff impact.
• Provide strategic partnership of the organization’s compensation philosophy and strategy; guide decisions on salary benchmarking, pay equity, and job classification to ensure market competitiveness.
• Coordination of payroll strategy, record keeping, and compliance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with applicable tax and wage laws, with effective coordination between finance and HR functions.
• Serve as thought partner on performance management framework and annual review process; support alignment between performance outcomes, compensation strategy, and organizational goals in partnership with the President and Executive Team.
• Contribute to Workers’ Compensation strategy and compliance; ensure effective claims management, return-to-work programs, and alignment with organizational safety practices.
• Serve as a strategic partner to organizational initiatives promoting equitable systems, inclusive culture, and alignment with organizational values and community impact.

· Must be able to travel locally as needed for events, training, and site visits.

Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field required.
· Minimum five to seven (5 – 7) years finance or accounting experience preferred.
· Minimum three (3) years management experience required.
