REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education Endorsement. Consideration will be given to a certified
teacher who has, or is willing to obtain, a Special Education Endorsement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals with a desire to improve educational practices.
• Knowledge of the core curriculum, literacy, and math instruction.
• Knowledge of trauma informed practices and PBIS.
• Knowledge of assessment, goal writing and the IEP process, and ability to effectively supervise paraeducators.
• A strong history of professional growth efforts or an expressed philosophy which defines the necessity for a
professional teacher to grow and learn throughout a career.
• Ability to facilitate positive parental interaction.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience supporting students with socio-emotional needs.
• Experience with coaching paraeducators and general education teachers on positive support strategies.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides and coordinates an appropriate, positive learning environment with a variety of activities and materials
for student intervention.
• Prepares and implements daily lesson plans and instructional schedules for assigned students.
• Develops and implements each student’s IEP, monitors student progress toward IEP goals/objectives, and
periodically reports on this progress.
• Conducts regular communication between home and school and provides periodic home contacts with parents.
• Provides information, resources and support to families and building staff regarding student needs.

• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with parents, support service staff, teachers,
administrators, agency personnel, classroom paraeducators and transportation personnel to support student
needs, issues, programming, services, and transitions.
• Completes and maintains student attendance, documentation and record keeping in accordance with district
policies and procedures.
• Participates in building level activities, staff meetings, in-service activities, program team meetings, student
staffing’s and educational planning meetings for assigned students.
• Identifies and monitors the specific job duties and responsibilities for assigned paraeducators to implement in
support of student learning.
• Assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the supervising special education administrator and/or
building principal.
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Building Principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a
developmental and instructional program for assigned students. The teacher will focus on development and
implementation of student IEPs, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student
progress and providing consultation to staff, paraeducators, agencies, parents, and administrators.
The teacher will be housed in a school environment, which includes classroom and related work areas. Instruction is
provided within the home, community, or educational settings as determined by an IEP. This position will interact with
Holt Public Schools and Ingham ISD staff, community providers, parents, and agency personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year per Teacher Master Agreement between the Holt Education Association and the Board of
Education.
