REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
Elementary Teacher Certification, preferred with ZA or ZS endorsement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work collaboratively with other grade level colleagues for planning and curriculum work and other
professionals with a desire to improve educational practices
• Literacy training
• Ability to utilize and assess student writing and oral explanation as a measure of learning
• Ability to use explicit assessments to make instructional decisions
• Ability to use alternative/authentic assessments
• Interest and willingness to structure teaching for conceptual understanding
• Interest and willingness to integrate students with special needs into general education classes
• A strong history of professional growth efforts (experienced teacher) or an expressed philosophy which defines
the necessity for a professional teacher to grow and learn throughout a career (beginning teacher)
• Willingness to be involved in school development and curriculum activities
• Willingness to participate in student programs such as Science Olympiad, Student Council and Student of the
Week
• Ability to use information technology to enhance learning and to enhance personal and professional productivity
• Previous experience within an early childhood setting
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with literacy learning
• Elementary experience
• Experience with alternative/authentic assessments
• Knowledge of social-emotional development (SEL) and effective self-regulation strategies

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music
to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate
learning activities.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and
procedures of the school district.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in
order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the
classroom.
• Continuously evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth. Keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress
reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the
school program.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils
solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and
interest centers.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-
selected professional growth activities.
• Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he will be
evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
• Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
• Prepares budget requests as necessary.
• Follows established Board policies with regards to instructional programs and areas of employment.
• Will maintain CA60’s and other records in accordance with district procedures and policies.
• Practice and teach conservation of materials and energy.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator.
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year per Teacher Master Agreement between the Holt Education Association and the Board of
Education.
