POSITION OVERVIEW:
Holt Public Schools is seeking an experienced and student-centered Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach to lead our soccer
program. The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven educator-coach with a clear vision for program development,
strong leadership skills, and demonstrated success at the varsity level. This coach will be responsible for overseeing all
aspects of the program (Freshman, JV, and Varsity) while modeling our district values of sportsmanship, integrity,
character, accountability, and excellence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have previous varsity-level coaching experience (head coach or assistant).
• Proven ability to implement and teach effective soccer systems, practice structures, game management and
strategy.
• Proven ability to teach, mentor, and positively influence student-athletes.
• Strong understanding of MHSAA rules, eligibility standards, and high school athletic regulations.
• Ability to model professionalism, positive leadership, sportsmanship, and acceptance of all students.
• Experience mentoring, developing, and supervising assistant coaches.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification and completion of state-required coaching modules (concussion, CAP training,
etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated success in building competitive, cohesive, and culture-driven soccer programs.
• Experience with strength and conditioning programming, off-season development, and year-round athlete
engagement.
• Familiarity with HUDL or comparable video/analysis platforms.
• Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with student athletes, families, staff, and the broader
community.
• Experience organizing youth camps, summer soccer, feeder program alignment, and community engagement
activities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Varsity Head Coach will be responsible for the following areas:
1. Program Leadership & Vision
• Organize, direct, and coach the varsity soccer team.
• Oversee the entire soccer program (Freshman, JV, Varsity) ensuring alignment of philosophy, systems, and
expectations.
• Set annual goals with athletes, coaches, parents, and boosters.
• Provide leadership and support for all soccer coaches within Holt Schools.
• Establish and model a strong program culture rooted in discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, and character.
2. Coaching Staff Development
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, evaluate, and develop assistant coaches across all levels.
• Instruct coaches on procedures, techniques, systems, and management skills.
• Hold regular coach meetings to maintain alignment, consistency, and communication.
• Encourage professional growth through clinics, workshops, league responsibilities, and association
memberships.
• Share new strategies, updated knowledge, and best practices with staff.
3. Player Development
• Develop student athletes through teaching, skill progression, practice planning, film study, and leadership
growth physically, mentally and emotionally.
• Build positive relationships with players and support them in meeting academic and citizenship expectations.
• Create a supportive team environment where all athletes feel valued, safe, and challenged to improve.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork and positive character growth.
4. Program Management
• Design and implement practice plans, game plans, off-season conditioning, and summer development programs
(leagues, strength, agility, speed training, etc.).
• Develop and maintain program materials (philosophy documents, procedures, playbooks, statistics, scouting
reports).
• Organize the soccer scouting program and ensure effective use of film systems.
• Oversee equipment, uniforms, locker rooms, storage, gyms, and game facilities.
• Coordinate with other program coaches to promote a unified and positive culture.
5. Communication & Culture Building
• Maintain strong, positive, and professional communication with athletes, families, coaches, school
administration, and the community.
• Establish and maintain a clear program vision and culture consistent with Holt Athletics.
• Promote the soccer program through appropriate publicity, events, and community engagement.
• Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, Principal, and district leadership on scheduling, budgeting and
facility management.
• Build rapport with a wide variety of groups, including parents, boosters, teachers, and youth soccer
organizations.
6. Booster & Community Engagement
• Provide leadership and coordination for the soccer booster club.
• Attend meetings, help set agendas, and collaborate on events and fundraising.
• Integrate the soccer boosters into the larger Ram Booster Program.
• Support feeder programs (Holt Junior Rams, etc.) by attending games, building relationships, and offering
guidance.

7. Compliance & Operations
• Ensure compliance with district policies, conference guidelines, and MHSAA regulations.
• Cooperate with administration regarding transportation, budgets, facility scheduling, eligibility, and safety
protocols.
• Coordinate and assist with team banquets, awards programs, and parent information events.
• Maintain high levels of organization, documentation, and operational efficiency.
• Support academic expectations and hold players accountable for classroom responsibilities.
• Maintain a professional and positive presence during all practices, games and team functions.
8. Time Commitment
• A year-round commitment to leading and developing the soccer program.
• Availability for after-school practices, evening games, weekend competitions, off-season workouts, summer
programing and community events.
• Willingness to engage in professional development, attend clinics, and participate in program planning sessions.
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
