REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Social Studies (RX) endorsement
• Preference for additional Middle Level (ZL) endorsement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and the desire to improve practice
• Ability to use and assess student writing and oral explanation as a measure of learning
• Ability to use assessments to make instructional decisions
• Ability to use alternative/authentic assessments
• Interest and ability to create and modify curriculum tools for student learning
• Interest and willingness to structure teaching for conceptual understanding
• Interest and willingness to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support
• A strong history of professional growth efforts (experienced teacher) or an expressed philosophy which defines
the necessity for a professional teacher to grow and learn throughout a career (beginning teacher)
• Interest in developing a student-centered, equitable classroom learning experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with team-teaching
• Experience with standards-based grading
• Experience with integrated curriculums
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaches 6 th grade Social Studies to students in-person; capable of using Google Classroom and other
technological enhancements to deliver a course of study as adopted by the Board of Education, and other
appropriate learning activities.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, district policies, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with a student-centered instructional
philosophy.
• Uses District-adopted materials to backwards design lesson plans.

• Provides learning experiences that develop the basic communication skills, using technology and equipment as
appropriate.
• Provides individualized and small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide a safe, productive classroom
environment.
• Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth and reports it consistently and accurately in PowerSchool.
• Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory
records.
• Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and
interest centers.
• Administers group-standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing program.
• Prepares budget requests as necessary.
• Maintains CA60 files and other records in accordance with district procedures and policies.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve physical,
social-emotional, and learning concerns.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
• Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
• Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district, and in
self-selected professional development activities.
• Maintains an auditable record of pupil attendance and performance with legends of clarity.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator.
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year per Teacher Master Agreement between the Holt Education Association and the Board of
Education.
