Computer Technician

Position Summary
The Holmes County Consolidated School District is seeking a skilled and dependable Computer Technician to provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of district technology systems and equipment. Reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology, this position plays a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of computers, instructional technology, and network-connected devices used by students, teachers, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Computer Technician shall perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Provide daily technical support for district computers, laptops, tablets, printers, peripherals, and related hardware.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems, software applications, and instructional technology tools.
- Respond to help desk requests and service calls in a timely and customer-focused manner.
- Assist with setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of classroom and office technology.
- Support basic network connectivity issues under the guidance of the Director of IT.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, inventory management, and documentation of technology assets.
- Assist with deployment and repair of student and staff devices.
- Ensure proper security, care, and handling of technology equipment.
- Provide basic training and support to staff and users on hardware and software usage as needed.
- Follow district technology policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with IT staff on technology projects, upgrades, and district initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in information technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in computer repair, technical support, or related IT services preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and common software applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing IT support in a K-12 educational environment.
- Familiarity with Windows and Chromebook devices, printers, and classroom technology.
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar).

Contract and Salary
- 230 Days
- Salary will be based on experience and qualifications and consistent with district salary schedules.
